"I hired Mike at Orlando Tile and Grout Steam Cleaning to steam clean my carpets for a price of $150. Even at that price, I was reluctant to hire him over the option of borrowing a friend's steam cleaner and doing the job myself. When I called to check the progress, I was asked if I wanted him to also do the grouts while he was there. Not thinking that it was a big job or even an additional cost (since I was not quoted a price), I said "okay". I arrived at my house less than 5 minutes later with a liquid chemical all over my floors, at which time I was told that the grout cleaning would significantly increase the price. When informed of the price, I said, "Forget it then. I just planned on mopping the floor myself", which should have been obvious since the only items left in the tiled area of the house that I am selling were cleaning supplies, a mop, and a bucket. He seemed to accept my response and said that he would just have to clean up the chemicals that he had already put down. For some reason this took a couple of hours. Then he sprung on me the bill, $450! So basically, I paid three times the price that I had agreed to pay because he conveniently "forgot" to mention the significant additional charge to clean the grouts in a house that I am selling. I shared what I have written above with Mike and he claimed that he would refund me the money for the service that I had canceled but which he charged me for anyway. This promise was made on November 7th. When I texted him about the refund on November 14th, he claimed that it it would take 3-5 days for the refund to show on my credit card account. It is now November 29th and there is still no evidence that he has refunded me the money. It should also be noted that the carpet stains that he was hired to remove are faded, but still visible."
