"José and his team were very professional and efficient with the dock repair. Day 1 was tear out. Day 2 was reinforce and repair. They did everything exactly as they said and then some. They reinforced a handrail and reinstalled the small solar lights we had on the old dock. Excellent craftsmanship! Thank you, NJNA!"

"It went very well, Myles came on time and was very professional. He fixed the ceiling hole in the garage and even built me a new cover for my access entry there. Then he built two six foot wide headers for the closet openings so he could hang the new bi-fold doors that I had purchased.
He arranged for his finisher Tony to come out to mud the work so it would blend in to the original surfaces. Tony did a great job, the repairs have almost disappeared.
He then came out to hang the new bi fold doors and I now have two wonderful new closets and no hole in the ceiling.

Dock Building and Repair FAQs, answered by experts

Cedar wood is the best choice for a hardwood dock, as it is rot-resistant and does well in the water. Pressure-treated pine and spruce are two other solid options. Alternately, composite or waterproof plastic are materials commonly used for docks, and are frequently used in prefabricated kits.

The cost to build a new dock can range widely, typically from $5,000 to $65,000, with an average cost around $15,500. The final price depends on several key factors, including the dock's size, the materials used, the complexity of the installation, the depth of the water, the type of dock being built, and whether it is in fresh or salt water.

The length your dock can be will differ greatly depending on your location. Some localities will have rules; for example, some areas won't allow you to build a dock that is more than one-fourth of the width of a body of water. Other areas won't have any rules on length at all.

Common choices include pressure-treated wood, composite decking, and aluminum for durability and low maintenance.

Building a dock is a complicated and time-intensive project, so professional builders typically take several weeks or several months to complete dock construction. Smaller docks in relatively shallow water may take two to four weeks to complete, while large or ornate docks in deep water could take up to six months. The timeline depends on the size and type of dock you want, the weather conditions in your area, and how ornate the construction needs to be. Your dock builder should give you an estimated timeline for construction along with your quote.
