"The painters were on time, skilled and helpful moving all of my exterior furnishings, covering them and putting back in place. At the end of the job, they pressure cleaned my patio, driveway and dock removing any paint or stains. The owner was on site daily directing crew and making sure the project was moving efficiently. I would highly recommend and in fact I’m hiring them again to paint the interior of my home."

Customers say: Quick response

"Tinco painting exceeded my expectations from start to finish! They were professional and hard working. I purchased the crown moulding myself and cut the pieces too small. This caused two seams on each wall. Elgyn and his partner did an amazing job joining the pieces of wood that it is hardly noticable. I had them install and stain moulding around two windows. The stain color matches perfectly and the corner joints are so precise. Their attention to detail is impressive. I can't recommend them enough!"

"Perfect paint and Lloyd the owner was so responsive on time. Did a great job. He allowed me the ability to choose the right color paint, and paint the right walls. He gave me advice on it, which was great and they cleaned up after themselves put all my furniture back where it was , they even came back and finished something that wasn’t ready to be painted called me to come back and set up a time and that he can come back and complete the job and the job was done very well I highly recommend perfect paint for any project that you have to do. I’m going to hire them in the future to remodel my bathroom. He had lots of great ideas and knowledge.. I give perfect paint and Lloyd a 10"

Small jobs welcome

"As a result of Irma, we sustained water damage to a wood floor. Our options came down to living with the damage or replacing the entire floor. Our flooring contractor suggested we try employing a faux painter. We found Natalya on HomeAdvisor. She did an outstanding job on a challenging project. We recommend her without hesitation or reservation."

Painting questions, answered by experts

Choosing the best color for your home exterior should factor in longevity as well as your personal taste. To keep your house looking newly painted as long as possible, stay away from red paint. Although red homes pop and are quintessential for country-style barns, red paint tends to fade fastest in the sun. Go with earth tones if you want paint that best resists fading.

Wood stain does go bad, but it will last in the can for between three and six years, provided you use proper storage techniques. Storing wood stain in open containers or in extremely low or high temperatures will cause your wood stain to become unusable much more quickly. Water- and latex-based wood stains typically last for just two to four years, while oil-based wood stains can last for three to six years.

Limewash and whitewash are two techniques used to give brick a light, matte finish, but they differ in composition, application, and permanence. The best choice depends on your aesthetic goals and the specific surface.

Composition

  • Limewash: A natural and environmentally friendly option made from limestone, water, and sometimes pigments. It is breathable and soaks into porous surfaces like brick.

  • Whitewash: Traditionally made from lime, water, chalk, and binders, but a similar look can be achieved with watered-down white paint. It is paint-based and sits on top of the surface.

Appearance and Finish

  • Limewash: Provides a natural, textured appearance that allows the brick's character to show through. It offers a more traditional finish.

  • Whitewash: Creates a softer, more opaque finish, often used for a rustic or shabby-chic style.

Application and Permanence

  • Limewash: Is semi-permanent and can be removed, making it a good choice if you might want to change the look in the future. It requires more skill to apply and cannot be used on previously painted brick.

  • Whitewash: Is a more permanent solution. It is more forgiving to apply and can be used on painted brick. However, because it sits on the surface, it can trap moisture.

Ultimately, if you want a breathable, natural, and reversible finish for unpainted brick, limewash is a great option. If you need a more permanent, opaque coating that can be applied over painted surfaces, whitewash is the better choice. Whitewashing may also be more economical, costing approximately $1.40 to $4.20 per square foot.

There are several ways to make a wooden fence more visually appealing and keep it that way for years to come.

  • Treat the fence with a wood sealant to protect it against the elements. It’s recommended to reseal a fence every two to three years, but if you live in a harsh climate, you may want to do it more frequently than that.

  • Restore the fence if it’s old, corroding, or fading. That includes cleaning it and making small repairs where needed.

  • Paint the fence in a color that you like, whether that’s a simple white or more vibrant option. Fences usually need to be repainted every one to three years.

  • Decorate the fence with planters, string lights, birdhouses, mirrors, shutters, and more.

On most untreated wood fences, there is no need to sand before treating. You typically only need to sand if there’s an old coat of paint or stain on your fence. If you do need to sand off a previous paint or protective coating (like an old stain or sealant), use medium-grit sandpaper.
