"I highly recommend I&K Service Inc. I hired to tile laundry room. Older home and demo group made floor uneven. He was able to level floor and install tile. Final project looked great and I hired him to install tile in Master bathroom that looks great. He asked questions, was easy to talk to, arrived on time, completed the job as scheduled, and cleaned area every day. Pricing was similar to other quotes and I would hire in the future."

"Another well known flooring vendor tried to charge me 2X as much. Jose and his crew kept the price within my budget and did an EXCELLENT job. Best value in Homestead. If you're looking to have tile installed, please contact Jose."

"RC Construction was GREAT. Raul and his team did a fantastic job removing old tile from our pool deck and installing new tile. The work was excellent. They were very clean. They were there when they said they would be there, and they started and finished the job very promptly. We are very happy with the work they did, and we will absolutely use RC Construction again in the future!"

"I am so happy I found Marcio, who is the owner of Pro Service Remodulation, by using Angie. I am so pleased with his work, his knowledge, his professionalism, and the fact that if he was delayed, Marcio would text me to let me know. Also, I trusted him, and this is very important to me! Marcio put up some acoustic panels for me with precision. He cleans up afterwards! He did some tiling along a doorway (measured perfectly) and then put up new wood in the doorway. Perfect! I believe in using local businesses, and most definitely I will be calling on Marcio again!"

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

The reasons not to install flooring underneath a bathtub outweigh the benefits. A properly installed bathtub will keep water from reaching the unprotected subfloor underneath. Installing a tub on top of finished flooring can lead to damage and scratches to the new floor. Also, a small leak from a tub drain may be more difficult to notice if finished flooring impedes water drips.

You can attach tiles to a wall using thin-set mortar. You’ll also need a notched trowel to create grooves within the adhesive so it flattens completely when pressed in and securely holds the wall tiles. Finally, you’ll need grout to smooth the gaps between the tiles and, ideally, a grout sealer to prevent mold. While it sounds simple enough, proper planning and execution are crucial, so carefully review the steps in this guide or hire a pro tile installer to complete this project.

No, you don’t need to remove the old grout before installing new tile over existing tile. In fact, the old grout helps fill in gaps between tiles, creating a more even surface for the new layer. However, it's important to ensure that the grout is clean, solid, and free of cracks or crumbling areas. Damaged grout should be repaired or replaced before proceeding. Cleaning the surface thoroughly and filling any low spots will help the new adhesive bond properly and ensure a smooth, stable installation.

To ensure an even and unbending surface to lay tiles on, you’ll typically need to put a subfloor under a tile floor. Fiber cement backboards are the most common choice, but using plywood is also possible. Don’t neglect this step, or you could risk water damage and grout or tiles prematurely cracking or crumbling, especially in an area with high foot traffic.

Yes, it’s always a good idea to keep a box or two of spare tiles after a home renovation project. Tiles can crack from improper installation, heavy foot traffic, and impact from drops. Having some extra tile on hand can make replacement fast, easy, and affordable. Plus, some manufacturers might discontinue particular colors or styles, and slight variations in tile colors between batches could mean mismatched tiles even if your product isn’t discontinued. Having a few spare tiles in storage can help avoid these issues, as well.
