"Got Gutters came out quickly to give me an estimate on the work I needed, cleaning tree limb growing out of the gutter. I agreed to the price and they came out 4 days later and completed the job. The guys were fast and efficient. I would definitely recommend them."

Small jobs welcome

"I hired BM Services in January to power wash the exterior of my property. I was told the job would take about two hours and that the technician would arrive at 7:00 a.m. — which I honestly doubted since it was 38 degrees in South Florida that morning! To my surprise, the technician arrived at 6:50 a.m., fully prepared and ready to work. He did an outstanding job cleaning the exterior of my property and even went above and beyond by cleaning additional surfaces that weren’t part of our original agreement. He was professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to give helpful recommendations for future services. I was extremely impressed with the quality of work and will definitely be using BM Services again. Highly recommend!"

Gutter Cleaning questions, answered by experts

While both underground and above-ground downspout extensions are a step up from no downspout extensions, underground downspouts are better for those looking for a more discreet option. Underground downspouts are hidden away—out of sight, out of mind. You won't be bumping into the extended sections with your lawn mower, nor will you see the downspouts sticking out like a sore thumb.

Buried downspouts can freeze during cold weather as cold water runs through them. If you’ve discovered your downspouts are frozen, you can carefully pour hot water down the top of the downspout to defrost them. If that doesn’t work, you may need to dig your downspout back up. Avoid trying to break the ice from the exterior using a hammer as this can cause cracks and damage to your downspout.

To avoid freezing the future, consider adding a heating cable to the exterior, which can adjust heat based on the surrounding temperature.

The best times of year to clean your gutters are typically in the spring and fall. Cleaning in the fall is crucial for removing leaves and debris that have accumulated, which helps prevent clogs. A spring cleaning ensures your gutters are clear and prepared for seasonal rainfall.

As a general guideline, experts recommend cleaning your gutters at least twice a year. However, the optimal frequency depends on several factors, such as local weather patterns, the type of gutters you have, and the number of trees on your property. If your home is surrounded by many large trees or pine trees, you may need to clean your gutters as often as every three to four months. If you have few or no trees nearby, twice a year is likely sufficient. In some cases, you may need to clean them a couple of times during the fall and spring to keep them clear and allow water to flow freely.

Yes, there are several downsides to installing rain chains. For one, rain chains have a lower flow capacity than a typical gutter and downspout system. This means that if there is a rainstorm, the rain chain can stop working completely. Rain chains also cannot redirect rainwater away from your house. In homes with a sloped yard, this could cause water damage in your foundation or basement.

While you can clean your gutters without geting on a ladder, you won't know just how well you're cleaning them without the use of a telescopic water pole. Some ways to clean gutters from the ground include using telescopic cleaning tools and a leaf blower extension, wet/dry vacuum extension, pressure washer, or garden hose with a curved end.
