"Working with Ivan was a pleasure. He explained everything in detail to me and answered all of my questions. The team (Mario) doing the siding and soffits were very efficient, polite and cleaned up after themselves. My finished siding and soffits look amazing. It looks like I have a new house. I would definitely recommend RIA construction to anyone."

"Job consisted of replacing porch brick tile and removing and replacing porch 4 x 4s and railings. Porch is 33 ft by 6 ft. 4x4s were anchored to the porch by Simpson strong ties. Railings were 6 ft and 8 ft in length and Required shortening to fit space. Communication between Handyman by Henderson and owner was excellent. The workmanship was excellent. Jim and Rinda Callan, owners, recommends Handyman by Henderson."

"I chose Jose for his outstanding reviews, he gave me the best quote. I emailed him at 8:30 AM to tell him I was ready, he called me back 10 minutes later, said he'd be by about 11:AM to chose the color, which he did. He scheduled for the next day, a few hours later he called said he could get to it that day. He and 2 associates arrived and in a few hours were completed. The color match was so perfect to my recently painted house that they were unnoticeable. Great job Jose, Thank You."

"I hired Ivan and his team to install Fiber-Cement siding on one side of my house after receiving quotes from three contractors. They had to repair and replace some rotted wood siding in several places. I was very happy with their work. They arrived when they said they would (they actually called me and started a day early), and worked every day until the job was done. They were very helpful in explaining some options for installation of trim, and did everything exactly as I requested. I thought the price they quoted was very fair, and I ended up paying exactly what they quoted me."

Siding questions, answered by experts

Vinyl is the most common shingle siding due to its rigid PVC design, longevity, affordability, and ease of installation. The next most popular types of shingle siding are fiber cement, which is in the mid-range for prices, and cedar shake, which is the most expensive. Consider the upfront cost, ongoing maintenance costs, and durability in your specific climate before deciding.

You should consider a siding replacement material that meets your expectations for budget, durability, and if you want to complete the siding project yourself. Some materials are better than others in certain climates and easier to install for beginners. If you’re unsure which material suits your home, check with a local contractor for guidance.

A square of siding refers to 100 square feet of siding materials. Rather than sell by the individual square foot, manufacturers typically sell siding materials by the square. For instance, if you need 105 square feet of siding but the material is sold in squares, you’ll need to purchase two squares (200 square feet).

Vinyl is lightweight, easy to install, durable, and long-lasting, and as long as a professional installs it, it should remain waterproof for several decades to keep your home protected. It can hold out against extreme weather conditions, and it doesn’t make a nice home for any sort of insects. Plus, vinyl is affordable and comes in a variety of looks and colors. When it comes to board and batten siding, vinyl is one of the most affordable material options.

How long siding takes to install depends on various factors, but averages seven to 14 days for a 1500 to 2000 square foot home. You may have a longer installation timeline if your house is large or architecturally complex, if you have underlying damage beneath the existing siding, or if the weather delays the installation process.
