"This crew was amazing. I asked for a quote and John came to my house that day to ask me what I was looking for and provided a quote. He scheduled me that day, and showed up with a crew that worked quickly and effectively. They finished cleaning up my flower beds, adding new mulch, mowing the lawn, trimming some very overgrown hedges, removed a tree stump, and cleaned up leaves/acorns in one day. I was blown away by how nice my yard looked after they were done, and I will definitely be calling them again with any other landscaping/lawn care needs."

"We used Jimmie Trotter and Company to repair our Hurricane Sally damaged irrigation system. In addition, he installed a new irrigation pump which turned out to be a very complex job. Mr. Trotter was an absolute professional, he was always on-time and showed up when he said he would. His attention to detail was above and beyond what we expected. Mr. Trotter returned several times after the job was finished to ensure everything was working as it should. We give Jimmie Trotter and Company our highest possible recommendation."

"Very responsive to all queries. Offered a winter discount for the install which I was happy to take advantage of. They even installed the smart timer I bought. Unfortunately they cut the fiber cable for my cable and internet however it was NOT their fault and they were quick to notify me so I could get it rectified through my cable company who didn't appropriately mark the cables like they were supposed to."

"They back with a competitive price as we had three bids only went with concrete work at this time with a concrete company. Will definitely use Imperial in the spring to do the front lawn. Very knowledgeable and gave good advice. All information was helpful to us. Get a bid from this company"

Lawn Irrigation questions, answered by experts

Yes, Bahia grass spreads on its own thanks to its short stolon system. However, it might not seem like your Bahia grass spreads well due to its slow growth. Bahia grass takes around 3 to 4 weeks to germinate and an additional two weeks to grow thicker.

During this time, fast-growing, competitive weeds may pop up, so weed your lawn to give your Bahia grass a chance to grow. This grass can take up to two years to become established. Once established, Bahia grass typically does well in suitable climates.

Properly secured bird netting is the best option to cover your grass seed with. It creates a minor moisture barrier that can help seeds sprout, and it’s a great way to keep birds away from your seeds. A cheaper, lower-maintenance option is hay or mulch, but these can change the look of your lawn and require cleanup in the case of straw.

No, it's not a good idea to put grass seed directly on top of dead grass. For successful germination and growth, grass seed needs good soil contact. To prepare the area, start by removing the dead grass using a shovel or a sod cutter. Then, loosen the soil, add soil amendments if necessary, and spread the grass seed evenly. This allows the seed to come into direct contact with the soil, promoting better germination and establishing a healthier lawn.

If you use a starter fertilizer designed for this purpose, you can overseed and fertilize at the same time. If you opt to use a fertilizer for established grass or one with a weed control component, it's best to wait at least four to eight weeks after seed application to allow the new grass to take hold and establish itself.

In general, cool-season grasses such as fescue grass, ryegrass, and Kentucky bluegrass are best for creating a striped lawn. Warm-season grasses like bermuda and zoysia grass don't curl as much, so grass stripes aren't as easy to see. If you live in a climate that’s better suited for warm-season grass, zoysia grass will typically be your best option.
