"Keith and his crew are very reliable, friendly, and skilled. They did a great job and took care to complete the job with very high quality. He repaired stamped driveway areas that were coming up and needed repair. His work was very neat and looks great. I would definitely hire him again and not hesitate to recommend him to do any concrete repair."

Customers say: True professional

"Kasey and his team did a project for our condominium. They removed weeds around the pool area, installed weed barrier and filled it with Alabama rocks. Despite some hiccups during the process, Kasey went far and beyond to make sure the project was executed on the highest level. He handled everything in a professional manner. Kasey was in touch with us constantly to make sure his team met our condominium’s expectations. Highly recommend Kasey and his company for your future projects 👍😊👏"

"I needed a retaining wall built on my ravine. I contacted Ken Mathis at Creative Dreamscapes Plus to build it. He also agreed to pressure wash my house, porches and stain a new deck. He also also painted my porches. He listed a fair price. In the meantime I decided to have my house inspected to make sure everything was okay. The home inspector gave me a booklet of all the issues that needed attention. I was apprehensive about hiring different workers to do the various jobs since I have been overcharged a number of times in the past 2 years. I am a 81 year old woman. I asked Ken if he would be able to repair everything on the list. He said yes and I was so relieved and appreciative. Ken Mathis employees Robert and Grady and their crew did outstanding work. I couldnt have been more pleased. They were competent, professional , punctual and polite."

Concrete Driveways questions, answered by experts

You should always power wash your driveway before applying a sealant. At any given time, your driveway could be covered with algae and moss, tire residue, oil and rust stains, and any combination of leaves, twigs, and dirt. If you skip power washing, you’ll be trapping the dirt and grime beneath the sealant and lowering its chance of cementing itself to your driveway. While you can expect the cost to pressure wash your driveway to average between $100 and $350, the few hundred dollars beats an unattractive driveway or paying extra to reapply your driveway sealer.

You should avoid using a pressure washer on any surface or item that could be damaged by the high-pressure spray, as some materials are too delicate to withstand the force.

Key items and surfaces to avoid include:

  • Electrical Components: Never pressure wash electrical systems, as water can cause short-circuits and create a safety hazard. This includes utility meters, breaker boxes, electrical outlets, generators, and HVAC or air conditioner units.

  • Delicate and Fragile Materials: Fragile items can crack, shatter, or be stripped by the pressure. Avoid pressure washing windows, glass, light fixtures, shingled roofs (especially asphalt), and stucco.

  • Painted, Stained, or Sealed Surfaces: Unless your goal is to strip the finish, do not pressure wash painted surfaces, stained wood (like decks), or anything with a protective seal that could be stripped away. Be especially cautious with older surfaces that may contain lead paint.

  • Soft Woods and Certain Decking: Delicate surfaces like softwood, composite decking, and antique or wooden patio furniture can be etched or damaged. If you must wash wood, use a lower-powered pressure washer with a wide-angle nozzle to prevent damage.

  • Living Things: Never use a pressure washer on people, pets, or plants. The force can cause serious injury and will destroy landscaping.

Periodic sealing and cleaning to maintain appearance and integrity.

When hiring a professional to pressure wash your home, it's crucial to choose a company that is bonded, licensed, and insured. This protects you from liability if any accidents or property damage occur during the service; otherwise, the cost could fall on you. Before making a decision, vet at least three different contractors. Conduct thorough research by reading customer reviews, looking at examples of their previous work, and verifying the company's license. Before signing a contract, ensure you receive a written estimate that details all project costs. It's also wise to ask potential contractors a series of questions to gauge their professionalism and experience, such as:

  • How many years of experience do you have?

  • What are your credentials?

  • What cleaning methods do you use?

  • Do you have a workmanship warranty and insurance?

  • What is your availability?

  • What is your policy if you damage my property?

  • How long will the job take to complete?

  • How much do you charge?

  • What is your cancellation policy?

  • Do you offer a customer satisfaction guarantee or any additional services?

When comparing installation costs, asphalt is often less expensive upfront than concrete. Asphalt prices typically range from $7 to $15 per square foot, while concrete can range from $3 to $18 per square foot. However, long-term costs should also be considered. Concrete driveways generally last longer (up to twice as long) and require less maintenance, which can make them more affordable over their lifespan. While asphalt has a lower installation cost and is easier to repair, it requires more frequent maintenance, such as sealing, which can add up over time. Therefore, while concrete is more expensive initially, its durability may offset the cost in the long run.
