"Outstanding! I could not be more pleased with the work done at my home. Joseph Pate is meticulous in his work ethic & craftsmanship. He does not make a mess & he does not leave a mess. Furthermore, he does not waste your money talking on his phone. He shows up on time every time. He is conscientious about his work and regularly checked in with me to make sure I was satisfied with the job as well. "Charles came with two sons. He had injury to his left foot just a few days before I contacted him. He came with crutches and supervised his sons. All three are very polite. They turned off every light and locked the doors every day before they left, unlike my general contractor and builder who frequently left the lights on and door unlocked, even one time they left with the key in the dead bolt. I didn't tell Charles and sons to lock the doors and turned off the lights, they did it with their professional ethic. They also notified me the numerous defects done by my builder- the most important one being the leak from the spigot pipe causing water under my bed room's floor. I contacted Charles to repaint the interior and repair the ugly area of wall in prominent view which had been repaired by my builder and his worker six times and still ugly and also the painting was patchy. Charles and his sons corrected all. I am very pleased with them."

Caulking Services questions, answered by experts

Almost all houses require soffits. The exception is in houses where you know without a shadow of a doubt there is adequate airflow throughout the entire house including, and most importantly, the attic. Almost all modern homes have soffits installed whether you notice them or not because on most homes, the roof eave extends beyond the walls of the home, naturally creating soffits.

Handypeople usually don’t hold trade licenses, so they typically aren’t qualified to tackle projects involving installing or making alterations to plumbing or electrical lines. Below are some jobs that a handyperson usually won’t be able to complete:

  • Installing plumbing for a new kitchen or bathroom

  • Replacing plumbing pipes

  • Installing or repairing septic systems

  • Running new electrical wiring

  • Installing a subpanel

A handyperson can perform a wide variety of home improvement and repair projects. Common jobs include painting, cleaning gutters, assembling new furniture, and replacing fixtures like cabinets or lights. They can also handle more complex tasks such as installing a dishwasher, fixing minor plumbing leaks, refinishing wood floors, and replacing doors. Generally, a handyperson is ideal for any project that does not require a specific license or certification, such as those related to major plumbing, electrical, or structural work, which should be handled by a licensed tradesperson.

If a contractor is in breach of your contract, sometimes it is possible to collect damages for unreasonable delays. However, such claims can be expensive and difficult to prove. If there’s a way to complete the work and maybe negotiate for a discount for some of the inconvenience, that might be a simpler and cheaper way to resolve any disputes.

A big resounding yes, hiring a contractor is 100% worth it. They bring expertise, manage permits, coordinate professions in different trades, and help avoid costly mistakes. A pro can keep your project on budget and schedule while ensuring quality work that adds value to your home.
