"Kevin did an excellent job of fixing up our side deck and steps! He was thorough and meticulous in doing his carpentry for the deck repairs. Labrador Renovations really hit the mark on our deck and I would think of them first for future similar projects."

"We pruned a large group of Japanese pine trees and had a significant pile of branches and no vehicle large enough to move I found this company on Angi and the tree owner Bill came out and assessed the job and the cost. He was professional and easy to talk too. We decided to use their services and contracted them to remove that was completed yesterday Tuesday May 27. I recommend them heartily Before and after photos"

"Bill and Jim (Bennett Bros Painting Inc.) were great. Our garage walls needed to be completed. Their team came in, finished the mudding, and repaired the walls, getting them ready for painting. Jim and Bill then came in and painted the ceiling and walls. The process was easy, and the final product turned out fantastic. They exceeded all of our expectations. Additionally, we were in a time crunch, and they worked with us to get everything done within the required timeframe. Bill and Jim were professional, on time, and communicated effectively, making the process easy. We would hire Bennett Bros Painting again for future projects."

Customers say: Quick response

"Paul Davis Restoration of Delmarva built my composite deck on a challenging work site. The new deck has custom steps, ramp, and benches. The deck skirting is unique and gorgeous. We are extremely pleased with the design and workmanship and have received many compliments from friends and neighbors. I want to thank Brian Rush, Josh, Brittney, and Christina. I especially want to thank Brian Pittman and his crew, Collin and Shawn. It was a pleasure dealing with everyone at Paul Davis."

Deck Repair questions, answered by experts

No, your deck will not rot under artificial grass as long as it is installed properly. When installed correctly, the artificial grass features a drainage system that prevents rotting. Simply laying artificial grass on top of the decking without proper installation will not lead to an effective drainage system that prevents rotting.

In most cases, there should be a small gap between the house and the deck, usually no more than ½ to ¾ of an inch. This space allows water and moisture to flow through instead of pooling against the side of your house. It also lets flashing protect your siding from runoff, which is one of the most common issues with decks.

Yes, Ipe is more expensive than Trex decking—both in terms of materials and installation (plus, Ipe trees are endangered). On average, Ipe decking costs $10 to $25 per square foot, while Trex decking costs $5 to $12 per square foot. Because Ipe is harder to work with, the price of installation is higher, too. For Ipe decking, you’ll pay between $20 and $45 per square foot for labor. However, with Trex decking, the labor costs range from $8 to $22 per square foot.

Your deck may look or feel fuzzy after pressure washing because the high-pressure spray tears some wood fibers as it removes the outer layer of dead and discolored wood. This fuzzy effect is a normal part of the pressure-washing process and will go away on its own in a few weeks. You can opt to spot-sand your deck if you’d like to remove it more quickly.

The most likely causes of a deck leaning to one side are damaged deck posts, soil erosion, and inadequate deck footings. If you’re not sure about the exact cause, the best option is to call a contractor who can build a deck to inspect the damage and recommend the best way forward.
