A small but growing 2 year old company servicing MOST of New Castle County DE. Two small teams - one does lawn cutting etc., and another crew does landscaping tasks. Total employees of 7 including Owner .

"Absolutely horrible. This company is nothing but a scam. The foreman of this company will make a bunch of promises and then break all of them. They took my money and ran after accomplishing next to nothing. Even worse, they crushed our utility cart and smashed our shed. They even installed our drainage line from our gutter on our neighbor's property. They will not respond to us, the BBB or a certified letter. We left a review reflecting their (poor) quality work on their Facebook page and they took the page down. We will unquestionably be taking them to court. The attached pictures are of how they left the job when they ceased all work. Nothing has been done since. *** Update*** Please see our previous review! Update as of 1/12/2020. Apparently the Owner (Erik) was kept in the dark for the most part regarding this situation. Once being updated in detail as to what went on, Erik stepped up to the plate and reconciled with us. Basically, Erik is a good guy. He made the huge mistake of hiring a very dishonest and deceptive foreman. This particular foreman (who by the way, has now started his own landscaping company) was 100% responsible for all of the problems that we had. From my experience with Erik, I would not hesitate to use his company in the future now that the "problem" is gone. We only thought it was fair to add this portion of the review since Erik rectified the situation."

Mulch and Topsoil questions, answered by experts

While you can put gravel directly on dirt, it won’t be very stable. It also won’t block out any weeds. Most experts recommend layering weed barrier and a layer of packed sand or other foundation material to prevent the gravel from sinking into the earth and being overtaken by weeds.

Organic mulch typically lasts between 4 to 6 years. However, factors like the type of organic mulch you choose, mulch size, and weather conditions can all play a role in its longevity. In some cases, you’ll need to replace organic mulch every few years.

This will depend on the depth of the structure. For a landscape, patio, or walkway that’s around 2 inches deep, a ton of gravel will cover around 100 square feet or about 0.6 cubic yards. However, if you’re building a driveway, which should be a minimum of 12 inches deep, you’d need about 6 tons of gravel to cover the same area.

Topsoil costs from $12 to $55 per cubic yard, depending on the type you choose. For example, screened black dirt will cost about $15 per cubic yard. Loam (soil composed of sand, silt, and clay) costs about $17 per cubic yard. Standard screened topsoil costs about $20 per cubic yard. The type of topsoil you need depends on your landscaping plans.

Yes, you can put soil on top of existing grass to level small areas. This is helpful for filling in small divots or leveling out minor dips in your yard that collect rainwater. However, this isn’t a good option if you need to regrade your entire lawn. It’s better to have a professional excavate some of the dirt first so that the level of the lawn doesn’t rise too high.
