"Tommy was great. He showed up on time and completed my project in less than one hour. I was pleased enough that his company will be providing another quote to bring my deck railings back to life. In this case he reattached my fireplace mantle that unfortunately was never properly secured to a sturdy stud in the wall. A simple fix but an affordable job well done. I look forward to working with Tommy and his team in the future for me upcoming projects."

"Matt has done multiple projects for me, including kitchen cabinet refacing, applying new kitchen tile, kitchen floor and all new inside doors. Everything was done timely and with excellence. Matt gave me an estimate and stayed within budget. He arrives on time and cleans up as he works. He is very polite and takes the time to answer questions completely. While he was here for my door replacement, I asked him if he could install a flag on my house, that would require a base built where it attached to the house. He completed it by improvising a beautiful custom wood mount for the flag. I highly recommend Matt for any project you may have."

"The task was to move a refrigerator & a freezer from basement to the garage (up narrow and unforgiving walls) along with boxing the goods within for the owner to replace as wanted. The 2 workers who came were a bit inexperienced and needed a little coxing to realize that with more thinking they could find a way to manage the job. That being said they extremely polite and careful."

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

In some cases, you can use a fireplace once the insert has been removed. However, before burning a fire, you must have a professional inspect it and the chimney to make sure they're functioning properly and no damage has occurred from removing the insert. That’s because using a fireplace without an insert could create fire hazards due to issues with airflow and heat dispersion, depending on the fireplace design and material. A professional can advise on whether you should make certain repairs or modifications before using your fireplace as an open hearth.

No, you can’t completely fireproof a house. There is always a chance that a fire can break out inside or outside your home. Even if most of the home is built with fireproof materials, a long-burning fire can still cause damage. Still, fireproofing efforts can buy you additional time to evacuate and give you a better chance of salvaging your home after a fire rather than needing to rebuild entirely.

Yes, it is generally safe to have a fire pit on a deck, but you must adhere to building codes and take several safety precautions. For both built-in and freestanding models, you must use a heat-resistant barrier, such as a fire pit pad or heat shield, between the pit and the deck. Additionally, consider the weight of the fire pit and ensure your deck can structurally support it, reinforcing it if necessary. The fire pit must also be positioned a safe distance from your house, particularly from materials like vinyl siding, to prevent heat damage.

Yes, you can close off a fireplace both temporarily and permanently with extremely wide price ranges. Temporary solutions involve fireplace plugs that can be inflated to block air and deflated to open the fireplace, covers, and boards. Permanent methods of shutting off fireplaces usually involve bricking up the fireplace or covering it with drywall. No matter the method, it’s probably best to hire a professional.

Start by checking the top or side edge of the door. Look for a certification label or metal tag stamped with details like the fire rating and information on the manufacturer. Even if it’s painted over, the tag should still be visible. Next, look along the edges for slim intumescent strips. They’re designed to swell up and seal gaps when exposed to heat. Finally, check if the door closes itself. Most fire doors have a self-closing mechanism, like an overhead closer or spring hinges. If none of these are obvious, contact a fire safety professional to help verify your door.
