"I scheduled cleaning of my heating air ducts and also my dryer vent. The team arrived when scheduled and provided excellent service. The estimate provided was accurate and the time-frame was adhered to. They gave me update photos to show any problem areas and before & after pictures. They were respectful of my property and left every area where they worked in my house spotless. I couldn't be more happy with my entire experience."

They knew exactly what to do, had all the right equipment and were very knowledgeable about duct cleaning. The job was diagnosed, and completed in 30 minutes which included leaving the work site neat and clean. Great job!"

"Bruce really listened to how I answered his questions and designed a natural-gas fueled steam boiler system that met all the requirements with the expansion potential I requested. During pre-installation logistics and the day of installation, Bruce and his crew were on-time, courteous and professional. Their work demonstrated the benefits of hiring a fully credentialed company, skilled and experienced at their craft. They completed their work in one very long day so that I could avoid a night without heat during a stretch of very cold January days. I trust Williams & Assoc. and would hire them for additional work in my home as needed"

"I liked that the first questions we were asked was "Have you had a home energy audit done? Did you know you can get a rebate on your insulation project?" Before even knowing the scope of our project, they were looking to help make it more affordable for us."

"We received professional and detail-oriented service during our complete HVAC installation. I couldn't have been more pleased with the quality of work and price! There was a mix up with the new furnace and the owner rectified it without question. While they were here, I received a quote for connecting a stand-by generator for propane, and the owner noticed what I have been extremely nervous about for several years, which a well-known company that is in Salem and rhymes with Slicer had installed new gas piping in our basement using plastic flexible pipe and several regulators. We have been smelling propane in the basement ever since of which Slicer was not able to rectify. Thank goodness for Quiet Corners! Now all the gas piping is black iron, and there are no more regulators in the basement; hence I am no longer scared about our house blowing up! My wife also noticed that the gas burners on the stove light easily now and produce an excellent flame (she was afraid to use our stove previously). Great service all around, and prompt attention to detail. The service crews were fantastic and took great pride in their work. I can't thank them enough for the outstanding job they did at our home. We now feel safe, warm and comfortable. :-) I plan on being a loyal customer and fan of Quiet Corners for many years to come!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

In some cases, yes, portable air conditioners are worth buying. They’re a relatively affordable option for cooling small spaces. (On average, they cost between $100 and $500 per unit.) Plus, they’re easy to set up, and you can move them around to cool various parts of your home as needed. However, they aren’t the most efficient AC option, and they tend to be noisy.

If you don't clean your AC evaporator coils, dirt and debris will build up, which impairs the system's ability to transfer heat. This forces the unit to work harder, leading to inefficient performance, higher energy bills, and frequent breakdowns. Over time, neglected coils can corrode, which may cause refrigerant leaks, or develop mold, ice buildup, and a clogged condensate drain, resulting in poor air quality and an uncomfortable home.

A common HVAC rule is that for every 500 to 600 square feet of living space, you need 1 ton of heating or cooling capacity. Now that you know this common rule, you also need to know that it isn’t very accurate, and a dedicated pro wouldn’t use it for your home. If you talk to a pro who won’t or can’t perform a proper Manual J calculation, consider hiring someone more thorough.

A frozen coil can cause permanent damage to your HVAC system and lead to costly repairs if not fixed. It can cause the unit to overheat and also cause the compressor to fail. It’s vital to turn the unit off if the coil is frozen and address the issue as soon as possible.

No, you don’t need a ductless unit in every room. Ductless AC units don't work the way that window units do, where the air doesn't travel outside that room. The indoor air handlers all attach to the outdoor condenser. While the air doesn't travel the way that traditional ductwork would, the ductless AC units create zones so that one part of the home can be cooler than another. They can spread effectively enough that indoor units only need to be placed in main living areas.
