"Lesson learned. Always get an estimate. BEFORE the work is done. At least a digital copy. Arrangements for the project were made, with some one named Lynn, for the company to send someone to complete the work. We were quoted over the phone 4500-5000 which included a mold test. A sub contractor with an entirely different company (National Mold Company) was sent. When the contractor arrived, he stated that the job would be much more simpler than first thought. This led us to believe that the job would cost less, no. All said and done, they charged $5500. All said and done, it's almost like no work was done. The stains and the smell are still there. Only one actual board was taken upon the attic room. The ceiling in the bedroom was primed and painted but are still visible and have a funky smell. At this point I'm going to. Do what we should have done; Do the job ourselves. Just now with $5500 less dollars in our pockets. A detailed receipt was not given even though it was requested."

"The visit to my home in West Hartford was a nice affair. The technician explained everything. He even mentioned that I had to get a plumber to remove the sink away from the wall, so the work could be done to repair the window and wall area, but I did not hear him mention that I had to pull permits. The problem with this permit pulling issue is that I never initiated the pulling of permits, and this also is a red flag for me. The pulling of a permit should always be done by the contractor who is doing the job. It ensures that the permit pulled is to code. It ensures that the permit pulled follows local ordinance and CT. laws and statutes regarding construction, and that also includes consumer protection mandates in the State of Connecticut. Having me pull the permit to allow the CT. Basement Systems to do the work is a big, red flag, and it can result in my home owner's policy being cancelled if the permits are pulled either after the fact, or the permits pulled do not line up with the inspection process. I can also be fined by the town for pulling permits after the fact too. I've had my furnace replaced. The plumbing company who replaced the furnace followed state law and guidelines. Especially, since funding provided through a loan from a Credit Union chosen by the State of Connecticut ensured that permits were pulled correctly, legally. The same applies to my roof being replaced. The roofing company pulled the permit. Having a customer whom you are charging in excess of $20,000 to pull a permit is putting that customer in legal jeopardy, which is unacceptable. If I sell my house, and I had the work done in my basement, and the permits were pulled by me. The person who bought my house could sue me for an incorrectly pulled permit. How would I answer questions from the town about the technical aspects of the job, which should be handled by the contractor directly? Why introduce another layer of bureaucracy that slows down communication? Have the contractor pull the permit, so that the contractor and the municipality, town or city can communicate directly, and the pulling of the permit is done correctly and legally. How would I know, when the town should be doing an inspection during or while the job is being completed or after the job is completed? This should never be a requirement of the customer to pull the permit for a job to be done. The tech who visited my home mentioned that I had to hire a plumber to move a basement sink, but they did not mention about pulling of permits, but I went and re-read the quote again, and it is at the bottom of the quote page under "Customer Will" that states not only hiring of the plumber but also pulling permits and scheduling inspections. I did not have this job financed by CT. Basement Systems. I, instead, decided to get a home equity loan. If I did not get the home equity loan, then decided to go with CT. Basement Systems financing, then I would be screwed. The best thing I did was slow the process down, seek my own financing, and ask larger, bigger, deeper questions that prevented me from making a mistake by allowing this work to be done."

We are a family owned and operated business, and our goal at C&C Home Finishing LLC is to not only help you design and build your dream home, but to make the process enjoyable for you. Our work is defined by superior craftsmanship, attention to detail, and technical ability. We always provide outstanding project management, organization, and coordination. We are full-service, licensed & insured contractors.

"C&C completely gutted and renovated our hall bath and partially redid the master bath. The work included repair to downstairs ceilings, painting, as well as replacement of numerous doors, and replacing hardware in other rooms. I cannot say enough good things about this company and crew. They did impeccable work, were patient and helpful when materials delivered incorrectly and immediately helped us figure out solutions that turned out better than our original plans. They were respectful in our home, did amazing daily cleanup and the end result exceeded our expectations, which is not easy to do. Their estimate was spot on, no up-charging or hidden costs and the job was finished two days earlier than estimated. C&C will be our first choice for all our future renovation plans!"

At Connecticut Custom Creations™, we specialize in transforming kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and attics into beautiful, functional spaces tailored to your needs. We take great pride in helping people build their dream homes, a core value that drives everything we do. As an owner-operated business with over a decade of experience, I bring seasoned expertise to every project, no matter the size. Whether it’s a small renovation or a large-scale remodel, we’re committed to delivering exceptional results with care and precision.

"Dustin and CCC did wonderful work creating a new bathroom and remodeling a bedroom for our house. What was most positive was Dustin’s energetic interest in the project, dedication to seeing the project through to make it come out with high quality, and persistently spirited good will. There were two aspects that didn’t work quite optimally: (1) The crew took much longer to finish than they promised (the original time was “1-month +” but over two months passed and there were still lingering issues---see below.) If you hire them, I recommend having it written into the contract exactly when it will start and end, including a specification of what the consequences will be if the job isn’t done on time. (2) They didn’t know what to do with our laminated wood floors. They needed to put down protection for the dining room floor which was damaged by the construction traffic, and they had trouble patching and refinishing the floor in the bedroom after removing a wall. When I asked Dustin to address (2), to his credit he was ready to bring in a floor refinishing specialist to fix the issues at a very favorable price to us. At that point, unfortunately, we couldn’t afford the interruption it would cause to have this repair done at that moment. In response, Dustin gave us a discount so we can address these issues with a profession flooring company in the future when we’ll have a good opportunity to vacate the house for this purpose. I recommend that if you need wood floor work done, you make sure there is an agreement in the contract to have somebody with wood floor expertise address that part. In all, Dustin was generous and willing to try to work with us when there were issues. I know that his company has also been generous about helping people who were in need in the past. This is a quality that I particularly admire in a company, so we still feel very positive toward CCC, but I have identified the issues we had in hopes that they won’t be issues for other clients in the future."

Fire Sprinkler Companies questions, answered by experts

Drip irrigations can be anywhere between four to 12 inches deep. In four-season climates, it’s likely that the system is buried under the frost line. The frost line is where the solid freezes in the winter. If your pipe is buried above the freeze line, it’ll freeze and thaw with the weather, making it more likely to crack and break.

Determining the number of zones for your HVAC zoning system depends on your home's layout and comfort priorities. Consider spaces with similar usage patterns and temperature preferences. Larger homes may require more zones for effective control, while smaller ones could do with fewer. Assess your family's needs, and consult a professional if you’re unsure, which will ensure a tailored and efficient HVAC solution.

The 30/30 rule for drip irrigation is the guideline that a single watering zone should not exceed a run length of 30 feet and a flow rate of 30 gallons per hour. The guideline is for 1/4-inch tubing only. By staying within the 30/30 rule, you ensure consistent water flow and distribution. Some experts even recommend keeping runs under 20 feet long.

Most sprinkler installation companies can get your system installed in one day, especially if they use trenchers and other machinery to speed up the process. However, it could take two to three days if you have an exceptionally large property or if you need lines and sprinkler heads running through garden beds. In that case, the labor will take longer to dig longer lines or to use manual tools to excavate in the more delicate areas. Your professional should be able to provide you with an estimated project timeline during the planning stage.

It costs $300 to $1,200 per watering zone for a pro to convert sprinklers to drip irrigation. A DIY conversion kit costs $100, but it can reach up to $750 for larger systems. Converting a sprinkler to a drip irrigation system is a relatively easy DIY and should take one to two hours for most homeowners. But if you aren’t comfortable with the project, contact a local sprinkler installer to handle the job.
