"As a rule, I don't leave reviews. This is one that I feel is needed in these times of shady contractors and vendors who over promise and under or never deliver. I was present during the entire process. I had some serious ground shifting taking place with this terrible Colorado clay. They had to raise my garage slabs 5" in one corner next to the house foundation and level the entire garage. In addition, they leveled everything including the upper part of my driveway, sidewalk, and front porch, not a small job. They asked my opinion throughout the process and made recommendations that were very sound and using common sense to a couple of areas needing some serious attention. The professionalism and work performed is what is making me provide this review, the 5-year warrantee is an added benefit. Their work was so good that two neighbors are currently calling them for help with their own project after watching them work on my project. Always keep in mind with any large project, it's about the vendor's personnel that will deliver success or failure. Groundworks has over delivered and Iâ m very impressed with everything from the beginning to end. Very impressed Groundworks, thank you!"

"Very competent, honest, and knowledgeable in all areas of construction and codes - predicted issues before they came up. Came well prepared. It cost me more than I had hoped because I had not realized the change in support structure required or the complexity of the existing structure. It was still considerably cheaper than other bids and his bid was very detailed. Very good work and exhibited great care in not damaging anything else. Best carpenter I have used in Colorado and probably the best I have talked to. I would use him for anything he thinks he could handle. I trust him and his work."

"Excellent customer service from beginning to end. Kacey and Dillon (A team) did incredible work while leveling and stabilizing the front porches and sidewalks on five different neighboring homes. Great job by the entire Sprague team. Highly recommend. Larry S."

Customers say: Terrific value

"Francisco Garcia did an excellent job finishing our basement. The work quality is excellent. The communication and flexibility throughout the project was excellent. The project finished on time within budget with zero surprises. Any concerns that arose were addressed expeditiously and professionally. I highly recommend Colorado Paradise Builders for your next project. The building inspections were coordinated by Colorado Paradise Builders and passed easily. We learned while talking to the inspectors that we had a gift by using Francisco as a general contractor. They mentioned other people in the business may not provide the level of customer service and professionalism which Colorado Paradise Builders demonstrated on our basement finishing project. I could not be more enthusiastic with a recommendation."

"From the start I knew Ryan was the right person, because he called me, the only one of the engineers that actually called me. He communicated regularly, let me know straight up the results and explained it all to me. Is also willing to answer questions from my contractor."

House Leveling questions, answered by experts

Concrete leveling can last anywhere from five to 10 years or more, and in some cases, it can be a permanent solution. The longevity depends on the method used and whether the underlying cause of the sinking is addressed. For example, mudjacking typically lasts five to 10 years, while polyjacking can last for 20 years or more. It's best to consult a professional for an accurate timeline based on your specific situation and any factors that could cause the issue to recur.

The timeframe is generally a few hours, allowing for immediate use post-hydration, ensuring minimal disruption to surrounding activities.

Mudjacking is usually reserved for light-duty slabs, like patios, driveways, and sidewalks. However, it can be an effective way to lift garage slabs and concrete around the perimeter of the home, which could harm your foundation if it’s not done properly. The risk of damage is why having a professional mudjacking company carry out the work is important. This type of slab or foundation repair is relatively inexpensive, especially if you consider that a DIY job requires that you pay to rent the necessary equipment.

Polyjacking and mudjacking can both be effective solutions for sinking concrete, but they have key differences. Polyjacking, which uses expanding polyurethane foam, is often considered a better option because the foam is significantly lighter than the cementitious material used for mudjacking. This reduced weight puts less pressure on the underlying soil and lowers the risk of future sinking. Polyjacking is suitable for any sinking concrete slab, while mudjacking is typically only recommended for non-structural concrete, such as sidewalks, patios, pool decks, and driveways. The primary drawback of polyjacking is its cost, which can be up to four times higher than mudjacking—as much as $25 per square foot compared to a maximum of about $6 per square foot for mudjacking.

It’s best not to perform mudjacking in the winter unless the ground temperature remains above freezing. Freezing temperatures can cause the slurry to harden too quickly, compromising its strength and longevity. Concrete is also more susceptible to cracking and splitting in cold temperatures, so there’s a higher risk of damaging the slab during the drilling and lifting process in winter.
