"Thrasher did a good job on the basement foundation and installation of new sump pump. A little pricey. Workers were prompt, courteous and cleaned up when done."

"My husband noticed cracks in the ceiling and doors were starting to stick. We called RockSolid and they gave our homes foundation a fix that I am thoroughly satisfied with, the price isnt bad, and these guys genuinely care about their customers and the work that they do. Thank you to Michael and the team at RockSolid Foundations. I highly recommend them to anyone!"
"We had an unfinished basement that had rough in plumbing already done and was already insulated by the builder. We used Craftsman Basements to create a beautiful living space instead of a messy storage area. Craftsman transformed this space into a bar/eating/kitchen area with floor tile and dark cherry cabinetry a sink, dishwasher, and fridge (we provided the dishwasher and fridge). We also have a nice bedroom with walk-in closet and beautiful window, a hallway, tiled shower/bathroom, living area with room for recreation (we have a full sized air hockey table) a clever reading nook with its own light under the stairs, wrought iron staircase and comfortable soft carpet. We also have 2 small unfinished areas for storage. about Overall the work was done in a timely manner, Matt the owner and Ben the work supervisor went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with the final project. Their workers were polite, timely and completed what was expected on the day expected. We are very happy that we went with this company and are enjoying our new space. They took extra care to line our driveway so the dumpster didn't scratch or damage it and the workers had a portable so never any reason to come upstairs. They came and went without bothering us but the workers were also accessible when necessary. The owner and supervisor made sure we knew what to expect from week to week. They completed all work in about 2 months give or take a few changes we requested that added a little extra time. "

"Service went exceptionally well. The plumbing company I used for many years went out of business, so I called Advantage after reviewing their ratings on Angie's List. Advantage was very nice and helpful from my phone call through the service call. I could not be more pleased with the work and the technician. Initial call was for leak under master bath sink. When we went to the basement to turn off the water we discovered a split pipe above my hot water heater. The technician was able to fix that issue in short order along with the master bath leak. I am so pleased he was able to do that repair in the same visit rather than having to set another appointment. I will use Advantage from now on."
"Good results. I knew that I would have to replace everything since it was pretty old water heater and nothing up to code. Quote was very complete, as I had read the reviews of others and knew what would be needed. Install was quick with 2 men. They asked me briefly if I had a water softener and never pressured me to buy one. Had to ask them to walk me thru draining procedures and how to re-light pilot if needed, as well as maintenance schedule. Would recommend to others for new water heater installs.... "
Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts
If you don’t wish to dig it out and convert it into a finished basement, you can still encapsulate your crawl space to protect it from damage for an average cost of $5,500. Finishing a crawl space beyond this isn’t really worthwhile, as the low ceilings mean you won’t be able to use the area as living space.
Yes, if your crawl space is prone to humidity, a dehumidifier can help keep it dry. For use in a crawl space, you’ll need a high-capacity and high-efficiency dehumidifier with built-in air filtration. It’s also wise to purchase one with a self-draining feature. Otherwise, you’ll need to climb into the crawl space to empty the dehumidifier.
If you decide to fill the space around your home’s foundation with landscaping materials, it’s important to consider the aesthetic as well as technical factors like drainage and protection from pests and the elements. Materials such as gravel, rubber mulch, concrete, and brick masonry are all good options.
Egress windows or doors are required in finished basements to meet safety and building codes. If your basement is unfinished and used as a storage space, egress windows are not required, but anything considered a habitable space must have an additional point of egress in addition to the stairs.
In most cases, it is safe to live in a home with minor foundation problems, but you should not let the issues persist. Virtually all foundations have small cracks from normal settlement, which are not a structural concern but should be sealed to prevent water intrusion. However, major damage—such as large structural cracks, sinking foundations, or bulging walls—can make a home unsafe. Other issues that can pose safety and health risks include poor indoor air quality from mold or pests, uneven floors, and rotten beams or joists. It is always best to have a foundation repair expert or structural engineer inspect any issues to determine if your home is safe to live in.
