"We met and quickly hired Brian to complete a multi-room renovation to our condo. Scope of work was broad and included a full kitchen remodel, remodeling/updating 4 bathrooms, replacing outdated railing, refacing a fireplace and installation of ceiling LED lighting. Brian was easy to work with and flexible/accommodating in addressing various changes and challenges typical of a remodel project. He was very responsive to any questions or concerns we had during the project. We found the quality of work to be very high with meticulous attention to detail. Our project was completed on time including several walk-throughs, addressing our punch-list items and following up after completion. We are so happy to have found Brian to do our renovation and would hire him again - very highly recommended."

Customers say: Quick response

"I hired Bruce at Live Edge Vail to create a custom, live edge bar top to replace an existing counter in a clients new home in Steamboat Springs. We had been working with another vendor who opted out of the project after going back and forth for several weeks. As disappointed as we were in that situation it really all worked out to our benefit when we found Bruce. He was extremely professional, had an abundance of expertise and created exactly what I had envisioned for my client. Bruce worked within our time frame and installed within several weeks of our initial consultation. The end result is a stunning centerpiece to the room and I have a very appreciative and happy client. Honestly, could not recommend Bruce and Live Edge Vail enough."

On average, the cost to hire a carpenter ranges from about $75 to $100 per hour, depending on the type of carpentry, location, size of the job, and skill level of the carpenter. Get quotes from at least three carpenters in your area to determine the best price for your specific project.

Balusters provide vertical support to make sure your stair railing and/or deck is as sturdy and safe as possible. These spindles help hold up the railing so people walking up or down stairs have something strong to hold onto. They can also act as a unique design element if they’re custom-made to suit a specific style or size requirement.

You don’t need a cutting board. In fact, cutting is the original purpose of butcher block countertops. That said, wood is porous and can harbor germs. You’ll need to clean your countertop thoroughly after use. Knives can also scratch the surface. This adds to the patina of the wood, but not everyone likes the look—in which case, you may want to use a cutting board.

Labor plays a significant role in the installation of butcher block countertops. Depending on who you hire, your location, the customization level of the project, and whether the wood is already finished, you may pay a professional between $10 and $150 per square foot to install a butcher block countertop. On average, expect the per-hour price to run between $60 and $100.

While you may have heard people use millwork and carpentry interchangeably, they aren’t the same. Millwork is a type of carpentry, which means that carpentry isn’t always millwork. You can tell millwork apart from other types of carpentry because it’s manufactured at a mill. Notably, casework is also confused with millwork. Casework is different because it refers to boxes like cabinets and bookshelves.
