"The project started well, but on the final day, the contractors unexpectedly claimed they made a mistake and demanded an additional $8000, threatening legal action if not paid. I verified Colorado law, which states they had six months to place a lien on our property, requiring notification within three days of doing so, and by registered mail after the lien was placed. We took no action, avoiding reviews or contact. They have since blocked us from their website and emails. Ultimately, they never placed a lien, and the six-month period has passed. Now that everything is resolved, I want to leave a review. While I am satisfied with the project's outcome, I am unhappy with their conduct, including the legal threats and the last-minute demand for more money. His wife, not him, conducted the final walkthrough and provided the warranty and a statement confirming full payment. He even verbally admitted to putting our project on the "back burner" when I questioned the delay."

The Mediterranean style is unique in that it’s designed for homes in hotter climates and to maintain a connection with nature. The building materials include stucco siding, clay roofs, and interior tiling with tall ceilings and open floor plans. These all come together to keep the interior cool. The building materials are all natural and tend to have muted earth tones, and the architecture typically allows for easy, open access to the outdoors through large windows and arched doorways. While vinyl siding's lifespan of 20 to 40 years is impressive for the cost, other siding options can actually last much longer. Stucco siding can last 50 to 80 years when properly maintained and is only a bit more expensive than vinyl. Fiber cement is similar in that it’s a little more expensive but lasts more than twice as long. Stone and brick last the longest, often more than 100 years, but they’re the most expensive siding materials.

Yes, you can screw directly into stucco. Only do so if the item you are installing is a permanent fixture. Drill a pilot hole into the stucco using a masonry or concrete bit, then drive in the screw with a power drill or screwdriver.

The curing time for stucco typically takes several weeks to fully complete. During the curing process, the stucco undergoes a chemical reaction and gradually hardens. It's important to note that curing is different from drying. While the surface of the stucco may dry relatively quickly within a few hours or days, the curing process continues beneath the surface, strengthening and solidifying the stucco. 

It's best to avoid excessive moisture exposure during the curing period, as it can impede the curing process. The exact curing time can vary based on factors such as temperature, humidity, and the specific stucco mixture used.

Stucco repair can best be described as a patch. It involves identifying the problem and fixing that specific damage with additional stucco. If no mold infiltration or an underlying leak is causing the damage, repair is most likely all you need. 

Remediation, on the other hand, involves removing the existing siding, fixing the underlying cause of the damage, and then reapplying stucco siding for that wall. It’s a more permanent fix that takes longer to complete and, hence, comes with a steeper price tag than repair.
