"Alan and his crew were great to work with! They took out my old driveway and sidewalk next to our house and replaced them with a nice new one this fall (2023). They listened to my specific requests regarding grading and drainage in order to fix some of the issues with the old driveway. These issues were addressed adequately and the new driveway drains much better. They did the whole project in two days. We love our new driveway! Their price was very competitive and I was happy to be able to support a small, local business. I highly recommend them!"

"I’m so happy with how this turned out! The stamped design in the center looks amazing and really stands out against the smooth broom finish around it. The colors came out exactly how I wanted, and the lines are super clean. You can really see the attention to detail—definitely a 5-star job!"

"The team that did the foundation work did great work. David Felix that did an inspection two weeks after the foundation work was completed was very professional, competent and knowledgeable. David Felix came back to do the yearly inspection and again he did awesome work. He was on time, polite and respectful. We recommend FRS and especially David Felix"

"Seriously wonderful company! Everyone does a fantastic job and always goes above and beyond to make sure things are done right and efficiently. We had an entire new furnace and AC system installed and did vent sealant and MAN the difference in our home and utilities speak for themselves. This company does great at spring and fall tune ups and actually go through the entire system instead of just cleaning the outdoor unit. Whenever we've needed a response for something they're quick to get us scheduled and done. Absolutely would recommend to everyone!"

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

The best basement waterproofing method depends on the specific issue causing the water intrusion. For minor problems, simple solutions like installing a properly functioning gutter system to direct runoff away and grading the soil to slope away from your foundation can be effective.

If you have more significant water problems, the solution will need to be more robust:

  • For standing water on the basement floor, a floor drain or a sump pump system may be the best solution.

  • For water pooling around the foundation, installing an exterior French drain can intercept water before it reaches the basement walls.

Other effective waterproofing methods, which can be used depending on your home's specific needs, climate, and soil type, include sealing the interior walls, landscape alteration, installing interior drainage systems, and using a dehumidification system to control moisture levels.

You can DIY basement waterproofing in some ways to help save on the overall costs. If your basement isn’t experiencing a lot of water but is noticeably humid, you can try running a dehumidifier that will pull the excess water out of the air. If you notice water leaking due to outdoor drainage issues, you can add downspout extensions to keep rainwater away from your home.

However, if the problem is more severe and requires a more extensive solution, it’s best to call a basement waterproofing professional to assess the treatment you need and install waterproofing safeguards properly. Since keeping water out of your basement is important, ensuring this job is done correctly the first time is best.

The type of stormwater drainage system you need depends on your area’s storm severity and frequency. Your property’s location should also be considered, including the surrounding soil type, nearest roads, existing drainage systems, and slopes and hills. Your property’s structure, such as decks, walkways, crawl spaces, and foundation, also affects what drainage system will work the best.

Some questions you should ask before hiring a plumber or drainage installation company include:

  • Are you licensed and insured?

  • Do you have any customer testimonials I can read?

  • How do you handle unforeseen challenges that occur during the job?

  • Is your fee a flat rate or hourly?

  • Do you do the work, or do you have subcontractors?

  • Is everyone who does the work licensed and qualified plumbers?

  • Is cleanup included in the quote?

  • Do you offer a warranty or guarantee on your work?

The cost to install landscape drainage varies widely based on the scope of the project and the severity of the drainage issues. Typically, this project’s cost falls somewhere between $2,000 and $7,000 overall. Small-scale projects or simple fixes may start at the lower end, while more extensive and complex solutions could reach the higher end of the range. To get an accurate estimate, you should obtain quotes from multiple companies, as they will assess your specific needs and provide a customized cost estimate based on the work required.
