Small jobs welcome

"Jim Wilson called me and we made arrangements to have work done. He has been very helpful and has kept in contact with me. I am in California while the work is being done in Colorado. I will be able to see work done in the first part of September. But he has sent me video of what has been done so far."

"Shane is a nice guy and did a great job on the windows. We do have an issue we are trying to work out. The bid we got for the windows was supposed to include screens. I did double check with Shane to make sure, and he affirmed. Windows were installed and we are happy...but, NO screens. Turns out the windows do not come with screens. We have been communicating with Shane for almost a year now trying to come to some kind of agreement on this problem. We are willing to bear some of the cost, but feel it should not be our full responsibility. Will update when issue is resolved."

Gazebos questions, answered by experts

Several types of porches are available to meet your needs and style preferences. Some common porch types include:

  • Porticos are essentially a roof over a walkway leading to the home's front entrance.

  • Sunrooms are closed-in porches that are an extension of the house with glass or plastic panels that allow optimal sunlight.

  • Wraparound porches extend around the entire home, or at least the front and one side, and offer multiple entrances to the house.

  • Back porches are an extension of the home’s floor into the outdoors. These offer more protection and privacy than a deck.

On average, building or installing a gazebo costs around $5,700, with a typical range between $3,000 and $10,000. The final price depends on several factors, including the gazebo's size, shape, material, and design complexity. Material choice is a significant cost driver; for example, brick is often more affordable, while metal can be one of the more expensive options. Square-shaped gazebos can also be more expensive to build. Custom features, such as built-in seating or lighting, will increase the total price. You may be able to save money by purchasing a prefabricated gazebo kit or performing some of the labor yourself.

To make the gazebo accessible, you can build a wheelchair pathway leading up to it. The path should be paved with a smooth surface for wheelchairs to roll through. A low curb should be placed along each side to ensure the wheelchair stays on the path. At the end of the path, build a wheelchair ramp connecting the gazebo.

Common materials include wood, vinyl, and metal. Wood offers a classic look, while vinyl and metal are low-maintenance options.

The main purpose of a gazebo is to provide a covered space for people to gather comfortably. They’re an excellent place for summertime get-togethers because the roof protects you and your guests from the sun. However, gazebos can also serve as a design feature, adding a bit of charm to a backyard or garden.
