Their longevity depends on the quality of materials, proper installation, and consistent care. Because concrete is porous, it is prone to cracking and staining. Regular maintenance, including resealing, waxing, and repairing any chips or cracks, is essential to preserve its lifespan.

The average lifespan of an epoxy countertop is around 10 years, but this material can last longer with proper maintenance. This material happens to be resistant to most kinds of countertop damage (think: water and heat damage) though damage can happen. In the event you do damage your epoxy, you can often fill it with an epoxy repair kit.

Onyx countertops have pros and cons. If you seal it properly and take care not to damage it, it can make a good countertop surface. However, it's more often used in bathrooms, where it’s less likely to sustain damage. Having an onyx kitchen countertop is possible, but you’ll need to take extra care not to burn, stain, or otherwise damage the material.
