"Absolutely Hire Rey! I have owed many homes and have hired many contractors. Rey was outstanding for quality, service and price. We had a very large and difficult project staining beams, trim, windows and doors in addition to ceilings, walls and the exterior. The staining was exceptionally difficult since it was being stained over existing stain. I don't think any other painter would have taken the time to get it right. But Rey and his guys did. I trusted Rey in our house for two months and could not have found a more reliable painter. Please note, we just moved to Beaver Creek and we did not know anyone. And while we had some referrals, it was the reviews on Home Advisor that lead us to select Rey. I will absolutely hire Rey again and absolutely recommend Rey. Tom B Beaver Creek, CO"

"They were excellent and professional in all aspects of the job done. They installed drywall, painted. They also installed backsplash in my kitchen. They took pictures before and after. They cleaned up after all construction was done. Immaculate. They are friendly and the finished job is awesome. Oswaldo takes care of everything for you. We even got a discount for paying cash . Highly recommend them for any job."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Wood stain does go bad, but it will last in the can for between three and six years, provided you use proper storage techniques. Storing wood stain in open containers or in extremely low or high temperatures will cause your wood stain to become unusable much more quickly. Water- and latex-based wood stains typically last for just two to four years, while oil-based wood stains can last for three to six years.

If you have wood decking, there are several common deck problems that you might encounter. For example, your natural wood boards may fade over time due to things like sunlight, weather, and debris. On top of that, some types of wood decking can rot, grow mold, and attract destructive pests—including termites, carpenter ants, and woodpeckers.

You’ll want to avoid excessively hot or humid conditions, so it’s best to apply your stain in late spring to early fall. It's also important to watch the weather forecast and aim for days when there isn’t rain expected for at least three days. For new decks, allow the wood to season beforehand for at least four to eight weeks.

Unless you’re using a 2-in-1 formula or painting over an existing coat of paint, it pays to apply a coat of primer ahead of your new paint. Decks see a lot of footfall and exposure to extreme and sudden temperature changes and moisture levels. The primer promotes better paint adhesion, moisture repellency, and a smoother finish, which means you’ll often need fewer coats of paint.

Generally, these steps are included in exterior house painting:

  • Prepping and protecting the areas not being painted

  • Scraping away loose paint

  • Cleaning off dirt, grease, and debris

  • Caulking gaps and openings

  • Priming with a quality paint primer

  • Painting the prepared areas, including trim and accents with chosen paint finish

  • Adding a second coat

  • Cleaning up the site and disposing of tape, plastic, and drop cloths
