"I called David because I needed 300 trees removed from my mountain house. He drove from denver to Breckenridge in 2 hours and gave me a quote to do the job. He started the next day and was done in 3 days. The best service ever. His work was perfect!"

"We call CraigStar for everything! Craig has repaired our appliances (oven, ice maker, dishwasher, dryer), installed a chandelier for us, fixed our toilets, fixed our radiant heating system and most recently has repaired drywall for us. The first year that we moved into our home we ran into many issues that needed repairs. Craig always does a great job in a timely manner. The things have been fixed have been working great and have not needed any more attention."

Small jobs welcome

"We needed a last-minute deck power washing before our Cinco de Mayo party, and this company absolutely came through for us! They squeezed us into their schedule quickly, showed up on time, and did an incredible job. Fast, efficient, professional, and the difference was unbelievable — the deck and house looked completely refreshed. It was way beyond anything a regular hose and high-pressure nozzle could ever do. Highly recommend if you need quality work done quickly!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Firewood tends to be cheaper during the spring and summer. When the demand for firewood is lower during these seasons, many firewood companies offer lower prices and added discounts. In addition, the supply of firewood is typically higher in these months, meaning the quality is typically higher as well.

Surface-level tree roots might only pose a small threat, such as being a tripping hazard or obstacle when you mow your lawn. But if mature tree roots start growing in the direction of your home’s foundation or plumbing system, it could be a real problem. Cutting small tree roots out before they grow too large can keep your home safe without removing the whole tree.

It depends on the type of tree. Typically, late spring on the cusp of winter is ideal for trees about to emerge from dormancy and produce new buds. That said, late fall is ideal for certain deciduous trees prone to bleeding sap. Avoid trimming trees in early spring, when they’re prone to disease.

It’s not always easy to tell when a tree is dying, although signs like dropping branches and brittle bark can sometimes offer clues. It can also be difficult to know whether a tree is dead or dormant, especially if it’s a deciduous tree. You’ll want to wait until a growth season to get a good idea of a tree’s health. When in doubt, contact an arborist for a consultation.

If it’s your property, then you can plant a tree near power lines, but it’s not the best idea. Any vegetation that grows within 10 feet or so of power lines will fall under the responsibility of the utility company, and they may trim or remove it as necessary. If you do move forward with your plan, try to choose a smaller ornamental tree, plant it as far away from the power lines as you can, and keep it trimmed to avoid future problems.
