"Our new fence, created and custom fabricated by John King is a stunning addition to our home. John and Nick were so professional, polite and knowledgeable about their work! It was a pleasure having them build our courtyard fence. The quality of workmanship is excellent and customer service was top notch. We highly recommend King Bead's Welding. Thanks guys! "Welded a cracked aluminum beam on a grain hopper trailer. These things are constantly overloaded but the welds have held up good. Also welded a leaking fuel tank on a semi and it stopped the leak. Will definitely use again."

"This is the second time I have hired Sean, and once again his work exceeded my expectations. Sean is always thorough, detailed and quality focused. His work ethic is beyond reproach. He does NOT speed through the job, but takes the right amount to time to make sure it is done right the first time. You never have to call him back to fix anything. I highly recommend Master MCG Remodeling for any of your household remodeling projects."

Customers say: Quick response

"Erik and his team were excellent. They responded to conversations quickly, addressed the price clearly and stayed 100% true to quote, and installed a beautiful product. We were outspokenly flexible with timelines, so they were able to work at their own pace. It did take quite some time for install and a post-installation adjustment that was needed, but they were incredibly responsive and 100% willing to do exactly what was needed to help us remain satisfied with the work. HIGHLY recommend."

"I had a steel light that got bent in transit. Charles had to knowledge to know that we couldn’t heat the metal without damaging the wires, so he cold-bent it, making tools to fit the job. Super friendly and professional. I would absolutely trust him with my metal work. The light is in now and it looks great!! Good as new!"

Welding questions, answered by experts

Cutting round ductwork requires precision and the right tools. A duct cutter, specifically designed for circular ducts, is ideal. First, mark the cutting line on the duct using a measuring tape and pencil. Then, position the duct cutter's blade on the marked line. Apply steady pressure, rotating the cutter around the duct. The sharp blade creates a clean, precise cut. Alternatively, a reciprocating saw with a metal-cutting blade can be used for larger round ducts. Ensure the duct is securely held in place while making the cut to prevent slips and maintain accuracy.

It will likely take an experienced pro less than an hour to install a ground rod, which is another reason why letting them handle the job is such a good idea. Safety concerns aside, it would likely take you much longer to install a ground rod if you decided to take this one as a DIY job.

You should not do your own welding unless you have the proper training and experience. Most home electrical systems can only handle MIG welding, which creates weaker bonds than TIG welding and won’t work on certain metals or metal thicknesses. Both welding forms usually require the use of shielding gas, which can be dangerous to store at home. Additionally, welding machines create temperatures of over 3,000 degrees, and the sparks can blind you if you don’t have the proper equipment. As such, it’s usually better to hire a professional welder for your welding projects.

Since water heaters are primarily made of metal, they’re commonly accepted by scrap yards and collectors. Don’t expect to fetch a high price, though—water heaters are mostly steel and aluminum, which aren’t high-value metals. Some components are made of more valuable metals, like brass and copper, but they’re a small portion of the heater and won’t affect the price much.

There are a few things you can ask welders before you hire them to get an idea of their experience and ability levels:

  • Are you licensed and certified?

  • How long have you been in the welding business?

  • Do you commonly do the type of welding I need?

  • Do you offer any kind of warranty for your work?

  • Do you charge by the hour or by the project?

  • How long do you expect my welding project to take?

  • What steps do you take to minimize errors in your work?
