"Jorge, Liz and crew made our countertop replacement stress free. But more importantly, the end product reflected their attention to detail and expertise they displayed throughout the project. The veins in the granite continue through to the next piece of granite, waterfall and backsplash. Each piece fit perfectly in the designated area with the corners and seams precisely fitted. Because of their state of the art equipment and the articulate workmanship that Jorge, Liz and crew demands, we could not be more happy. We highly recommend Lion Stone Works for your countertop needs."

"Pricing and quick service a plus. Office coordination is not very good. A little challenging with communication and scheduling. The marble countertops they completed for me were very complicated and a couple details were not perfect. Once installed it looks very nice and I'd use them again for a basement project."

Countertops and Backsplashes FAQs, answered by experts

If you need to make curved cuts on your laminate countertop, get out the jigsaw. A jigsaw with a fine blade will allow you to follow curved traced lines. It is important to cut slowly and to let the jigsaw do most of the work with you acting as a guide.

One of the best ways to use bar-height countertops is as a divider. If you have an open concept home, this can visually separate your kitchen from your living space. This countertop is also ideal for entertaining. You can cook in your kitchen, while your guests can sit at the island and be at a similar level.

The standard kitchen countertop height is 36 inches, so a 37-inch countertop should work fine. However, if you’re 5’4” or shorter, a 37-inch countertop might be too high. Ideally, the countertop will be three to four inches below your elbows.

The most expensive countertop materials are marble and granite. These natural materials are very heavy and require specialized tools and knowledge to install. Their natural veins and flecks elevate the design and make a beautiful statement in the kitchen or bathroom. Because they’re natural, no two countertops will be the same.

Tile countertops can be an excellent and budget-friendly option for a kitchen, provided they are installed correctly. It's important to choose tiles, such as ceramic, that are heat-, water-, and scratch-resistant. When the grout is properly sealed, it will resist stains, making the surface easy to clean. Tile is also considered a sustainable material. For a cohesive kitchen design and added protection, you can pair a tile countertop with a matching tile backsplash.
