"Jay?Greenland has done multiple projects on our properties over 15+ years and has consistently exceeded our expectations. Greenland has installed pools, spools, water- features, hot tubs, pavers, retaining walls, canary palms, flower beds and pots, irrigation and drainage systems, etc. effectively many varying combinations of hardscape and softscape in landscape jargon. We highly recommend this business!"

"I got some cheaper quotes but they didnâ t give me the confidence that I felt when Michael anticipated some drainage concerns before I even voiced them. His team solved my drainage issues and gave me a nice patio extension and walkway. They were competent, hardworking and fulfilled promises. Now we are commissioning them for some gravel path/edging work. Some of the estimators I met with seemed incompetent and one was downright slimy and intrusive. So glad I found this company."

"My wife and I hired California Smartscapes to complete a 100,000 plus landscaping job at our home in Bay Park. As you can tell by the photos it turned out amazing! In fact, it turned out better than we could have anticipated. The guys were very professional and their effort and work ethic was first class. The team lead by project manager Sal were very responsive to our requests and were there to answer any questions we had. We are excited to spend our weekends and nights outside BBQing, enjoying the fire pit and watching sports! I will say there is no one more excited than our labradooble, Callie! Now, all she wants to do is be outside playing ball on the grass :) Thank you all for making our home complete!"

Fountains questions, answered by experts

Because frogs require fresh water for survival, they can die from repeated exposure to swimming pool chemicals. Chlorine dehydrates frogs, which can lead to their deaths. To ensure frogs don’t hang out in your pool for long periods, safely remove them once you spot them in your pool and install a frog log so they can easily hop out on their own.

In addition to length and width, pond liners also come in various thickness levels. Thickness is measured in mils, a unit of measurement equal to one-thousandth of an inch, with most pond liners ranging from 15 to 60 mils in thickness. The smaller the number, the thinner (and weaker) the liner. To prevent rips and tears, it’s best to choose a pond liner that’s at least 30 mils thick.

Yes, it’s possible to DIY a plunge pool and shave labor costs off of the project total. If you’re considering a DIY build, keep in mind that you will be responsible for pool installation and landscaping (which may require excavation). This type of DIY project is best left to particularly handy homeowners who have prior pool installation experience.

One reason you may want to fill in your pond is the cost of maintenance. Pond cleaning may cost about $1,000 for an annual cleanup, or monthly visits may cost $75 to $100 per visit. If you don’t want to spend that much per year on pond upkeep, you may consider filling in your pond.

How many fish can call your pond home depends on the volume of the pond and the fish size. Your pond's filtration system also influences the number of fish that will thrive in a pond. A general rule of thumb is to have 1 inch of fish for every square foot in a pond that's 2 feet deep. Another rule of thumb you can follow is to have one koi fish for every 200 gallons of water or two goldfish for every 200 gallons.
