"Great Company to work with. I had Miguel and his team help me with a 2700 sq ft house that we took down to the studs. They helped me finish demo, hang the drywall, finish the smooth walls, help me to find painters, and stay till the job is done. Always there to offer a hand. He quickly earned my trust. We had a challenging project with a lot of wall and 4 skylights. We chose 5/8 drywall as well. So everything was that much heavier too. The guys who worked for him were polite and professional at all times. They were respectful of the COVID restrictions. I have a 4 month old so we take it seriously. I will try to update with some photos soon, or maybe Miguel can. These are great guys with a great company. These are the type of guys you look for and want to hire. Pricing was fair and honest. When I expanded the scope of work I didnâ t get wrecked by change orders left and right. Iâ d highly recommend them. Honest and upfront with a good crew. Special thanks to Miguel, Nick and Mario for going above and beyond for my family!"

"Charlie did an excellent job repairing the ceiling after our pipe leak. He was able to match the texture and blend the damaged area into the surrounding ceiling area.

"I can't say enough good things about this company. Mr. Lee is both an accomplished craftsman and an artist. He made my wall and ceiling look better than new and left my home clean and free of debris. He will be the first person I call for any future drywall or stucco repair!"

Customers say: True professional

"Prime Drywall & Design patched a 3? square hole in the ceiling of one of our rooms which was left after remediation was completed in our attic from a pipe leak. Francisco responded to our inquiry & came to our house promptly. He was professional and explained what needed to be done to patch this hole. 2 days later his crew came & did a fine job of covering everything with plastic and then patching the hole. Francisco came the following day and sanded leaving the ceiling ready to paint. I highly recommend Prime Drywall &; Design."

Popcorn Ceilings questions, answered by experts

Popcorn ceilings have fallen out of popularity for several reasons, though opinions on them can vary. The primary drawbacks include an outdated appearance, difficulty with cleaning and maintenance, and potential health risks, as ceilings installed before the 1990s may contain asbestos. As design trends have shifted toward sleeker, more modern finishes, many homeowners now prefer smooth ceilings for their clean look and easier upkeep. However, popcorn ceilings do offer some benefits, such as excellent acoustic properties for noise reduction and the ability to hide imperfections. Some also appreciate their retro charm or find them to be a cost-effective solution. Ultimately, whether they are "bad" depends on personal preference, safety concerns, and aesthetic goals.

Yes, you can cover a popcorn ceiling, which is often more cost-effective and easier than scraping it off. Common methods include using ceiling-grade drywall, applying a skim coat, or installing beadboard panels to create a smooth, updated finish. Covering the ceiling can also protect you from asbestos exposure if the material contains it. However, it's important to note that this method only seals off the asbestos and does not eliminate it, which could be a concern for future renovations or home resale. If you suspect your ceiling contains asbestos, it's best to hire a local asbestos abatement company to test the material and manage its safe removal.

Small repairs or applications can be DIY projects, but removing older textures, especially with safety risks, is usually left to professionals.

Because of the nature of the texture, it's common for the popcorn texture to loosen while painting. Popcorn ceilings are delicate, and using a heavy hand with a roller or applying overly wet paint can loosen the texture. To avoid a mess, handle the material gently with a roller or brush. It's also smart to test a small area first, and if the texture starts coming off, the ceiling may need repairs or sealing before painting.

While you should consult with a ceiling professional for larger cracks, especially if you’re not sure what’s causing your ceiling to crack, you can certainly try to repair small cracks on your own. If you’re up for the task, here’s how to repair ceiling cracks for $150 or less.
