They’re just the right people for medium to large home projects employing one to many highly skilled workers. For this man’s expertise you’ll pay top dollar. On the other hand there are day workers you can pick up outside of Home Depot. These folks are just perfect for unskilled small home projects. They’re men who’ll work very hard, but who have limited skills and little training. Thankfully they’re inexpensive. Regularly inspecting your foundation—at least the visible sections—for signs of foundation issues like moisture and pest infestation is a good way to identify slab leaks early, as is keeping an eye and ear out for water damage to indoor building materials, above-average water bills, sounds of running water when no fixtures or appliances are on, and indoor humidity that causes the temperatures to feel more extreme. If you do find any issues, contact a plumber right away to check it out for you.

In general, crack fillers last for about two years on average. That timeline can be shorter if you have extremely harsh winters or longer if you live in a mild climate. Luckily, this product is pretty affordable at the hardware store (about $10 to $30) and easy to DIY, so redoing it every few years shouldn’t be too much of a hassle.

In almost all cases, yes, a damaged concrete driveway can be repaired, and the repair cost will be more affordable than a full replacement. Even major damage, like a sinking section of concrete, can be repaired by a professional using mudjacking or polyurethane concrete lifting and will average about half of the cost of a new driveway.

Cost and age are two factors to consider when determining if you should repair or replace your concrete driveway. If your existing driveway is on the older side and the cost of repairs is 50% or more of its value, it might be worth replacing it. Replacing a concrete driveway when it's 20 years old and deteriorating in condition will save you from the cost of repairs that likely wouldn’t save it from replacement in a few years anyway.

For cracks in asphalt driveways, you can use crack filler or cold-patch asphalt mix, while concrete driveways can be repaired with a concrete patch or resurfacer. To fix the driveway cracks, apply the filler directly into the crack using a caulker and then level it with a putty knife.
