"Kim Manning of Carmel Custom Restoration gives excellent customer service. He did an outstanding job of restoring my marble kitchen counter to a bright polished look as if they were brand new. No more dull and scratched countertops. He is professional, skilled in his job performance, and job site was left clean after work was finished. He is worth every penny and I am very pleased with his work."

"It took more time than Peter had quoted to repair my marble table tops. He did have a medical explanation which we accepted. He then doubled the telephone quote when informing us of the delay in repair. I reminded him of his original quote, which he honored. He delivered the marble tops repaired and was very kind. We can see where the broken areas were glued. The tops were not totally finished to blend them in. The edge (a couple of sm pieces) of one marble top broke on delivery. Peter said he would return to glue the sm pieces back on and smooth out the edge. He never contacted us to follow up. Overall the job was okay but not excellent."

Marble Restoration questions, answered by experts

It is not recommended to put a hot pan directly on a marble countertop. While marble is heat-resistant, it is not completely heat-proof, and extreme or prolonged exposure to high heat can cause discoloration, cracking, or chipping. Pans may also scratch or nick the surface. To protect your countertop and maintain its integrity, always use trivets or hot pads. Note that faux marble finishes do not resist heat and require protection from hot items at all times.

You can cut food on tough, scratch-resistant granite countertops. However, these hard surfaces can quickly dull your knife blades, and continual cutting in the same spot can eventually lead to marks forming and compromising the protective sealant. As with any countertop material, it’s always best to use a chopping board.

It is advisable to have stone countertops inspected every few years, especially if damage is noticed. Regular maintenance and inspection help catch and resolve issues early, extending the countertops' lifespan.

Marble is high maintenance, like most other types of natural stone flooring. However, because it is naturally a more porous stone, there are a few added care instructions. You will need to clean it often to prevent dirt and grit from scratching the finish and surface, keep it dry, clean up spills immediately, and have it professionally sealed and refinished at least once a year to maintain the shine and water-tight surface. However, investing in maintenance is a smart move because marble floors are among the most beautiful and valuable types of flooring when properly cared for.

If you're looking to break up a stone slab or some landscaping stone, the process is very similar to breaking up a boulder, and may in fact be easier because it is easier to access and not as deeply buried into the ground.
