"I used George and his crew for the 2nd time because I was so happy using them last summer. As expected, they did an excellent job and my house & deck looks great! George is so easy to talk to and he offers great advice and listens so well to my concerns. The best thing honestly to say about A+ painting is that George takes pride in doing a great job; sadly which is lacking these days with other businesses. I highly recommend him and his crew. He is honestly the best!"

"David and his crew were efficient and professional painting the exterior of our home, cottage and wooden hutch. I’m not someone who regularly writes online, reviews, but I do highly recommend J & D Painting."

"AWESOME is the only word I can use to appreciate Jose and his team. Excellent interior paint done by J R quality painting team for our entire home. Jose was always on time from giving a quote, sending his team and finish the job exactly on time and as committed. David and other team members are very polite, took extra care for all furniture and did a great job. It was surprising to see that such contracts also exists as we always had poor experiences in past. I will recommend J R painting to my network and any one looking for hiring a paint company. I am sure you will be happy. Great job Jose and thank you!"

"They came in and very efficiently removed old wall paper in two rooms. They had to skim coat in one of the rooms. But the results are very good!"

"Oscar and his team at R&R are professionals plus! I have used them for several years to work on my rental as well as my residence. I can only say wonderful things but what stands out the most is their punctuality and timely completion. I highly recommend Oscar and his team-they are detail oriented (making a very picky person happy), punctual, polite and extremely professional."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

When staining a deck, don’t skip surface prep, avoid staining damp or dirty boards, and don’t apply stain in extreme heat, cold, or wet conditions. Never overload the wood with a stain, as too much can cause tackiness or peeling. Also, don’t forget to test a small area first to ensure the color and finish look right.

Hiring a contractor or professional deck refinisher is the best way to ensure your deck is properly stained. They have the expertise, tools, and supplies to do the job quickly and efficiently. However, staining a deck is a manageable task for most homeowners, and doing the job yourself can save money. Just keep in mind that DIY staining is a long process requiring physical strain, so it may not be the best option for everyone.

Satin paint is generally considered a better choice for woodwork—including trim, baseboards, cabinets, and doors—than flatter finishes like eggshell or matte. Its soft sheen enhances architectural details and stands up well to frequent cleaning and daily wear. Compared to eggshell and matte finishes, satin is more durable for high-touch areas because it is less porous and doesn't absorb dirt as easily. Matte finishes, in particular, are prone to scuffs and are harder to clean, making them less practical for surfaces like doors and cabinets.

You don't need to seal your deck after painting it because most exterior paints are waterproof and weather-resistant. While stealing is not necessary, it can add an additional layer of protection.

If your biggest concern is making sure your deck doesn’t show dirt, opt for a darker neutral color that blends in well with your surrounding landscape. A rich brown or dark grey are both good options that work with a variety of house colors. A high-quality acrylic paint is easy to clean and maintain, so it might be worth spending the money on.
