Customers say: True professional

"Leo was very helpful and quick to respond. We’re happy with how our 2 bathrooms turned out. Project was completed within the time promised. Our only complaint is that the workers did not clean up very well. But overall, we’re satisfied and we’ll use them again."

"I had him install closet organizers in three closets and it was just what we wanted. Mr. Norm Poltch was helpful with closet organizer ideas and has an excellent upcoming company. Thank you Norm."

"I hired Best Builders group for the remodeling project of my master closet, master bathroom and mainly the kitchen. I had my vision of how I want them to be done and more than that, I was able to design my drawings of the spaces and I just needed someone reliable that can make it happen. I spoke to few contractors and met with them too. One of them was Zohar. Zohar was very nice, professional and skilled contractor when we met and he captured my attention compare to the other ones. The remodeling supposed to be finish within a month of work but due to several changes that we did during the work, it ended up that the remodeling took a little longer than it should but at the end…. I can say clearly that it was well worth it! I must mention also, that Zohar didn’t charge me anything more what we agreed on and he was very fair and honest while the quality of the work and the customer service was beyond compare."

"We love our cabinets! They look fantastic while remaining affordable. The friendly staff at AWD helped us from start to finish. They are very knowledgeable and gave us advice and tips when needed. They were receptive and patient with our ever-changing needs. Once we finalized our purchase, we received our cabinets within two weeks! The cabinets are very sturdy and the color is beautiful. The hinges and hardware are high quality. We are extremely pleased with AWD and would recommend them to any friends or family looking for good cabinets at a fair price."

Closets FAQs, answered by experts

If you’re on a tight budget, the least expensive material you can buy for DIY closet shelves is chipboard, a.k.a. particle board. This inexpensive material is made from a pulp of sawdust, resin, and glue that’s pressed together under high temperature and pressure. As you can imagine, it’s not very sturdy and might buckle under your blue jean collection, so you should only use it if you’re storing very light items.

Plywood, MDF (medium-density fiberboard), and solid wood are all popular options for closet shelving. Plywood and solid wood are sturdy and ideal for extended shelves or heavy items. MDF is a budget-friendly choice for light to moderate storage, but it can sag under heavy weight if not adequately supported. Wire shelving is another alternative that allows airflow, making it especially useful in humid spaces such as laundry rooms or basements.

Bump-out additions can add some space to a closet without requiring any significant structural work. This entails pushing back the existing rear or side of the closet, simply moving the wall into either an adjacent room or unused space. For ground-floor closets, this could even be extended to the exterior of the home, but that has its own complications. Bump-outs are a good discussion to have with your contractor if you’re just looking to increase the space a little—not renovate the entire closet space.

Common materials include wood, laminate, and wire. Choose based on durability, style, and budget.

Walk-in closets are always the biggest and can easily be more than 100 square feet. Primary bedroom closets, even if not walk-ins, are the second largest category in most homes and sit between 30 and 80 square feet. Linen closets, utility closets, and built-in closets are smaller and, depending on their usage, tend to be between 10 and 50 square feet.
