"I have had Jason wire two garages installing sub panels and all outlets. He also moved the meter box on a home because PG&E said we had to. He did good work things clean, and was quite pleasant to have around I would definitely hire him again as a matter of fact, Iâ m planning the next project soon"

Small jobs welcome

"I had an electrical issue that the contractor working on my house could not figure out. He literally worked on it for 1 full day and was stumped. I googled Chico electricians and called the first several I found (with no response). I called RW electric and they said they happened to be in the area and were at my house the SAME DAY. He searched for the problem which ended up being several power sources tied to an old timer. He fixed the problem (that had my contract of 40+ years stumped) in a matter of hours. He showed up promptly, professionally, and was very friendly. I would have recommended him to anyone after that first experience. BUT, then about a month later, I had another electrical problem that I could figure out. I called Robert and again he showed up that SAME DAY. He fixed the problem within a half hour then told me that he couldn't even charge me for it because it was such a simple fix. I cannot recommend strongly enough that you call RW electric. Great family owned Chico business!"

"Paul and his crew were very efficient and easy to work with. We have used Solar Solutions for our original solar install, an addition and battery storage. Every time they have communicated very well and completed each job timely and very much to our satisfaction. They have also always been very responsive to our questions and needs even after the projects were finished."

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

To power a central air system during a power outage, the whole-house generator will need to be at least 5,000 watts, and this number will significantly increase for larger units. Check the specific wattage requirements of your AC unit to choose the right generator size. Consider consulting a generator installer to ensure your whole-house generator meets your electrical load needs.

A 10,000-watt generator can run a small to mid-sized central AC unit (typically up to 3 tons or 36,000 BTU) along with a few other appliances. However, larger AC units or additional loads will require a bigger generator. Consult a local generator installer to ensure you add the correct size generator to your home.

While the rating will tell you how many watts the refrigerator needs at the peak of its cycle, it requires additional wattage to start. At the bare minimum, you’ll need a 1,500-watt generator to get the fridge up and running after a blackout. A 2,000-watt generator should be sufficient for most home refrigerators.

Portable generators provide backup power for essential appliances during outages and are easy to relocate.

If you’re deciding between a solar battery versus a generator for the best backup power solution, you can take a few factors into consideration. Solar batteries are quiet while generators can be quite loud. Generators have a lower up-front cost, but they require fuel and ongoing maintenance while solar batteries are more expensive but don’t have many ongoing costs.
