"We recently had Mega Power Electric Inc install a solar system and panels. The President and provided excellent communication all the way through the process. He even met with us after installation to explain the almost incomprehensible PG&E bill. Although not the least expensive bid, his was competitive and I felt he was as interested in educating me about solar and the various types of panels and inverter systems as he was in selling a system. He demonstrated how the array of panels would meet our energy needs and as opposed to some of the other companies, wasn't selling us more than we needed. We are very satisfied with our solar system and I highly recommended Mega Power Electric Inc."

"L & S Painting I’ve never written a review, favorable or unfavorable for a business before but this time I felt strongly that I should share my experience, so here goes… Starting with the owner, Phil: Extremely professional, knowledgable, hands-on and as one of his employees described him, “one of those ‘look you in the eye, shake your hand and remember your name’ kinda’ guys.” The job: A huge project taking several days and several men. Entire log house, eves, windows, deck and railings needed to be stained…. including a lot of prep work and sanding. The before and after difference is remarkable. We are extremely pleased. The crew: Everyone of the men who worked on our home was courteous, skilled and not at all afraid of hard work. The crew foreman worked over-time to make sure every detail was completed and was totally accommodating, only wanting us to be happy with the work. And we were! Thank you L & S!"

"Excellent work. He and his helper arrived when he said he would and completed the difficult job promptly and professionally. He went beyond my expectations, clearing about 20 feet on either side of the very long driveway and beyond. The cost was reasonable, and they were very pleasant to work with. Will hire again!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood, as this helps prevent the surface from cracking. However, it is crucial to wait for the wood to dry out completely from the chemical treatment process before applying a finish. If the wood is still wet, the paint will not adhere properly. The drying time can range from weeks to six months. To test if the wood is ready, drip some water onto a board. If the water is absorbed, the wood is dry enough for painting or staining. If the water beads up on the surface, it needs more time to dry. You can build with the wood while it's still wet, but you must wait for it to dry before painting.

Beyond liquid rubber, homeowners can use sealants, stains, membranes, or tapes as waterproofing options. Oil-based or water-based sealants soak into the wood, creating a moisture-resistant barrier. Waterproofing stains—available in transparent, semi-transparent, and solid colors—add both protection and style to your deck. For heavy-duty waterproofing, deck membranes and waterproof tapes can be applied under the deck boards to direct water away from the structure below. Whatever method you choose, clean and prep the deck first to ensure the best, longest-lasting results.

Essential tools include brushes or rollers, drop cloths, sandpaper or power sanders, and appropriate cleaning supplies. Quality materials ensure long-lasting results.

When applying multiple coats, wait four to six hours for each coat to dry. Not waiting long enough can result in streaks, peeling, and uneven color. Plus, it will be more difficult to discern where the second coat has already been applied.

There’s no single paint that’s the most waterproof. Instead, there are several types of waterproof and water-resistant paints that suit different purposes. Epoxy paint, for instance, is commonly used to provide a waterproof coating to floors and decks. Masonry paint is an excellent choice for exterior walls. Meanwhile, there are waterproof acrylic paints that can be used for interior and exterior walls. It’s more about choosing the best type for what you’re painting instead of the most waterproof paint overall.
