"Ernesto is a very nice and polite young man. He showed up on time and prepared to do all that was needed. After discussing my expectations, he gathered his tools and removed all the screens. He began upstairs and then downstsirs, working his way around the house. When all was completed, he moved inside to wash all my downstsirs windows. He did a great job on all the frames and sills and left no mess to be cleaned up. After cleaning the screens, Ernesto and I did a walk -around to make sure all was good...actually wonderful...spotless and shiny! Thank you Ernesto!"

House Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Plan on deep cleaning the garbage disposal weekly with a maintenance run of ice cubes and lemon peels. Make it a regular part of your kitchen cleaning checklist.

Although never required, tipping shows house cleaners how much you appreciate their work. If you are satisfied with their consistent service, consider tipping a thoughtful way of showing appreciation. This is especially true if the same cleaners continuously provide the services, which means you can tip them for each visit, monthly, or annually, depending on your preference.

The average house cleaner cost is around $180, which should cover about four hours of work. However, each project is different and costs can range from $100 to $1,000, depending on the house size and the cleaning needed. Other cost factors can include your location and what level of cleaning you want. Standard or basic cleaning may include vacuuming, dusting, and disinfecting the kitchen and bathrooms. Deep cleaning costs about twice as much and often includes cleaning behind and underneath furniture, washing windows, and polishing hard-to-clean surfaces. Emergency cleaning, extreme cleaning, and holidays also impact pricing. Move-in and move-out cleaning typically cost more, too, because of the extensive, whole-house cleaning involved.

Clean your vinyl plank floors at least one to two times per week with a broom, vacuum, or microfiber mop. You can save the mopping and disinfecting for your deeper cleans about two to three times a month. Keep in mind that if you find sticky spots, spills, or stains, it's best to take care of them ASAP.

The time it takes to pack any kitchen depends on its size and how organized the space is. A kitchenette in a tiny abode could take 4 to 8 hours, including decluttering. However, a standard or much larger kitchen can take a full day or longer, depending on the number of items, including appliances you own.
