"Gabriel did a professional job on my utility trailer. It needed some repairs along with installation of several accessories. After explaining what I needed done he had some suggestions on some different techniques to overcome some obstacles I had with my ideas. Top notch work and communication. He was on time and his rig if fully capable. I have in in my contacts and will recommend him to anyone that needs some welding done. Dennis"

"Brett, Bear and Glenn were fantastic. I was contacted by them as soon as I put up my project request on Home Advisor. They came right out and gave me an estimate. I requested a late appointment since I work, and they were more than happy to come out at a later time, AND I live in the country in Reedley. This was a HUGE factor in deciding to have Cal Native install my fence. Once they measured and quoted, they began the job within two days. The 127 feet of chain link was installed in ONE day!! They did a fabulous job! Very professional and easy to work with. I also liked that they cleaned their work area before they left. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing a new or repaired fence."

Wrought Iron questions, answered by experts

A high-quality wrought iron fence is one of the most durable options available and can last a lifetime, or even centuries, with proper care. However, wrought iron is susceptible to rust and corrosion if not maintained.

To maximize its lifespan, regular maintenance is required. This includes:

  • Cleaning the fence with soapy water every six months.

  • Scrubbing away any rust or corrosion as soon as it appears.

  • Applying a new coat of paint or refinishing the fence every few years to protect the metal from moisture and oxygen. The recommended frequency varies, with sources suggesting anywhere from every 1 to 10 years.

If significant rust develops, it's wise to hire a professional fence repair company to clean the rust and reseal the fence. The cost to refinish a fence is typically between $5 and $12 per square foot, a worthwhile investment to ensure its longevity.

Yes, fence posts need to be installed below the frost line to ensure stability and prevent heaving caused by freezing and thawing cycles. The frost line is the depth at which soil freezes during winter. By placing posts below this line, often around 3 to 4 feet deep or as recommended for your specific region, you reduce the risk of the ground shifting, which can lead to leaning or unstable fences. Adequate depth provides better anchoring and helps maintain the fence's integrity, ensuring it remains secure and upright throughout changing seasons.

The depth of the fence posts depends on the height of your fence. If you’re installing a 6-foot fence, then digging 2-foot-deep holes for the fence posts will help ensure a secure installation. However, if you’re installing an 8-foot fence, the posts will need to be deeper than 2 feet to support the structure properly. Also, consider how far apart the fence posts should be to provide adequate support.

Installation typically takes 2-5 days, depending on the fence size and site conditions.

There are many types of fences available to homeowners, including wood, chain link, wire, concrete, brick, corrugated metal, and more. Some fences offer practical solutions for pets and wild animal deterrents, while others offer aesthetics that boost curb appeal. Consider what you’re looking for in a fence to help you decide which is best for your home.
