"Mike and Clayton did a fabulous job with the installation of our new window film. Mike was so great and patient working with us all the way through this job. In the beginning we had numerous questions re: this film. He answered all our questions and then some and helped us understand the benefits of this film. After the delay with the shutdown, the guys were able to do the installation. Everything went smoothly and we absolutely love our new film. The film we chose cuts 41% of the heat coming into the house and 98% of UV rays that fade the interior floors and furniture. You don't even notice the film is on the window. We will refer Cool View Tint to anyone considering adding film to their windows. They are great."

Window Tinting questions, answered by experts

Tinted window films for houses are usually made from a micro-thin sheet of thermoplastic resin called polyethylene terephthalate (PET) that offers the strength and flexibility needed when fitting film to a window. Homeowners looking for a solution that insulates a window without blocking light from a home should investigate low-e glass vs. window film.

While you need heat to peel back window film, the tint will often leave behind adhesive residue. You can use chemicals such as isopropyl alcohol or acetone to remove the residue, though hardware stores sell specialized solutions for this purpose as well. You can also use soapy water in a pinch!

Yes, most professional-grade window films include warranties covering fading, peeling, and bubbling.

ENERGY STAR®-certified windows are the most energy-efficient windows on the market. This certification means that the window meets strict efficiency guidelines set forth by the Environmental Protection Agency. While they might cost more upfront, they can save you money on your energy bills in the long run. ENERGY STAR®-certified windows lower household energy bills by an average of 12% annually.

The lifespan of window tinting depends on several factors, but a high-quality, professionally applied tint can last anywhere from 5 to 25 years, with premium tints lasting at least 15 to 20 years. Key factors influencing longevity include the quality of the film, the professionalism of the installation, and the type of window. Some companies offer lifetime warranties, while others may only provide a one-year warranty or none at all, so it's wise to verify this with your service provider. To prolong the film's life, clean it gently with a microfiber towel and mild cleaning solutions. Avoid harsh, abrasive, alcohol-based, or ammonia-based cleaners, as well as sharp tools or scrubbers, which can damage the surface.
