"Bob Warren was simply terrific, i had a great experience consulting on my crawl space. Really, Ive never had a crawl space and while having one in my first home i did not know what to look for that was in need of repair. Bob did a thorough job looking over it for me and very honestly delivered me feedback. Turns out i am not in a dire need of repairs but when i do, i know who to turn to. Thank you Bob, and GroundWorks for the professionalism"

"Noel showed up on a Saturday and unclogged our kitchen sink in an hour. We had tried everything we knew to do and even took all the pipes apart under the sink to try and find the problem. When we couldn't find the clog we decided to look for a professional to help out and we called Noel. He and his employee were awesome. They replaced all of our old pipes and snaked the lines to the outside And all for under $300. We will definitely use him again and are planning to use him to power was all of our pipes soon."

"The plumbers were very knowledgeable and quickly figured out the problem with the faucet installation and how to fix it. They also spotted that the “new” faucet contained parts that had been used before, and we got the store to provide new replacements for them."

"Almost immediate scheduling (next day) and professional and courteous installation. My only disappointment was that the technician who arrived did not know I had purchased the Angie's List voucher which resulted in some confusion re: payment. However, Top Service Plumbing acted professionally to rectify it. What I appreciated was that Top Service Plumbing answered my calls each time I contacted them, even on a Friday evening and weekend."

"I bought the big deal for three men for two hours for $149 - a steal in any situation.  Alex then charged $80 for use of the truck.  Despite horrendous traffic, the three personable young men efficiently cleared out a storage unit, loaded the truck and off-loaded everything in good shape and accessible. They followed my directions, made suggestions of their own and everything worked out well for all.

"One of my toilets backed up which also caused the shower to back up. I had 2 different plumbers over to try and snake it, but in both cases, it did nothing. I was told that the clog was most likely further out towards the street. I called Bob & Marc and they asked about a mainline cheanout. My house is over 50 years old so it didn't have one. Initially the estimate was about $1200 to get the mainline cleanout installed, but I was told after they put the camera through that it would have to be quite a bit more because my pipes were 6ft down from the house where they could get the cleanout installed. I accepted, they removed parts of my deck, dug down 6 ft, installed the cleanout, jetted out the pipe and ran a camera through to make sure everything was clear. After they were finished, they put the deck back together--not beautifully, but then again, they are plumbers so I wasn't expecting much.
There was a bit of mishap when they were fixing a water pipe under the house for me (which I asked about and they threw in for free) which was leaking. Unfortunately, while they were adjusting it, that caused water from a pipe in one of my bathrooms to start spewing water uncontrollably. As a result, my hardwood was damaged. I'm not sure why the water was never turned off before performing their fix, although I never asked.

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

To test for toilet leaks, use water coloring in the water tank and see if the water slips into the bowl from the tank. This test will indicate if there’s a problem with the flapper or refill tube. You can also put water coloring in the bowl of the toilet to see if there is a leak there. If there is, you should see the colored water on the outside of the toilet bowl or on the floor.

Every three to four months, you should clean any dirt and debris off of your sump pump. You should also check the inlet screen (at the bottom of the pump) to make sure that it isn’t blocked. On top of that, you should deep clean your sump pump once per year—or hire a sump pump pro to do it for you.

Sump pump repairs are typically handled by plumbers or waterproofing specialists who are experienced in handling basement and foundation-related issues. Plumbers can address issues like clogs, electrical problems, and mechanical failures, and waterproofing professionals may be ideal if the sump pump is part of a larger drainage or waterproofing system.

Some people may also call on a general handyperson for minor sump pump repairs. However, for complex problems, hiring a certified plumber or waterproofing expert ensures the work is done correctly and prevents further issues.

Yes, it’s normal (and beneficial) to have a small amount of water in the bottom of your sump pit. It shows that your system is collecting groundwater, rain, and excess water from around your property—just like it’s supposed to. However, if the sump pit is always full, you might have a leak or a faulty sump pump.

There are several things you can do to maintain your sump pump and prevent sump pump problems. For instance, keeping a lid on your sump pit goes a long way in protecting your pump system from silt, sand, dirt, and other debris. When water drains from the outside, such as along your foundation, or with melting snow, water runoff often brings sediment with it.

Also be wary of corrosion, particularly if your sump pump system is made of metal. Keep an eye out for rust and have it inspected regularly by a plumber or sump pump technician.
