"Steve is the most reliable and trustworthy person in the business. I highly recommend hiring him. I hired him for 1 plumbing project but he can do everything thankfully. I have hired him for several other projects that have all gone completely smoothly thanks to Steve."

"I’ve had the pleasure of working with Kybrie Construction on multiple projects—fence installation, deck work, and house foundation repairs—and I can confidently say they exemplify everything a contractor should be. From the start, their communication was timely and transparent. Every question I had was answered quickly and clearly, and I always knew what to expect next. Their pricing was straightforward and fair, with no surprises or hidden costs. The quality of their work is outstanding. Every project was completed with precision and care, and the results speak for themselves—solid, beautiful, and built to last. Beyond their professionalism, the team was genuinely enjoyable to work with—friendly, respectful, and fun to have around. If you’re looking for a contractor in the Lake Tahoe area who delivers top-notch craftsmanship with integrity and great energy, I highly recommend Kybrie Construction."

"Andrey was awesome! We had an attic fan that stopped working. He tested the fan and the thermostat, to make sure to fix the right one. Turns out both were bad, Andrey went and picked up a new fan and thermostat. He then put in the new fan and also put up two house lights for us. I would definitely recommend him for any type of job, very polite and friendly."

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

No. Removing the cause of concern will only lead to deeper concern. You cannot use any fire-powered appliance like a fireplace or furnace without an escape route for the smoke and fumes. If you remove the flue intending to repair or replace it, you should only use the fireplace, wood stove, or furnace once the flue is in working order. If you cannot replace the flue you have removed, call a chimney repair professional immediately.

If you plan to put a fire pit on a grassy area, be sure to put compacted paver sand down first to help level out the ground and add better heat protection. If you’re placing a fire pit on hardscaping, like a concrete patio, consider placing a fire pit mat down first. This can add more protection from the heat and also protect the look of your hardscaping if you choose to remove the fire pit in the future.

You might be able to turn a normal door into a fire-rated door, but you’re better off purchasing one that meets all NFPA 80 standards. If you want to DIY a normal door into a fire door, you’ll need a self-adhesive intumescent seal, metal hinges, fire-resistant glazing, and a self-closing device, but you’re always better off buying a certified fire door.

Although no heating appliance can be entirely risk-free, a fireplace insert is considered a safer alternative to a traditional open fireplace, thanks to their enclosed design. With a sealed combustion chamber, a fireplace insert effectively reduces the risk of sparks and embers escaping into the room, minimizing the chance of an accidental fire.

Additionally, an insert comes equipped with various safety features, such as tempered glass doors that create a barrier between the flames and the surrounding space. This enhances both safety and energy efficiency by preventing heat loss. As an added bonus, many inserts are designed to meet strict safety standards that ensure proper ventilation and combustion.

Having a pellet stove can indeed raise your insurance rates since they're a relatively common cause of fires in the home. However, rate increases vary by insurance provider so you should reach out to yours to determine exactly how much your rates might increase with a new pellet stove install.
