"Sean was knowledgeable, thoughtful and imaginative when we were designing cupboards and shelves for our new kitchen. Good listener, but was clear when he thought our ideas might not work and helpful on advising and sharing samples/photos on wood selection etc. Good at planning and anticipating issues. Good on timings. The project came in on budget and a few days earlier than expected. The results were genuinely beautiful in terms of design, quality and finish and exceeded our expectations. Installation went very smoothly. We are very pleased and would recommend to others looking for a creative and high quality craftsman joiner/cabinetmaker who cares about the out come!"

"They did such a great job. Jose was extremely easy and flexible to work with. The crew did a very thorough job and my new steps look and feel great and very sturdy. I’ve received many compliments from people in my neighborhood about my new steps. I’m very happy with the job and wouldn’t hesitate to hire Management Design Brothers again for any large project that I have. A job very well done!!"

Cabinet Making FAQs, answered by experts

Kitchen cabinets can hold a whopping 500 pounds, but that is only possible if you attach them correctly. They must be anchored securely with long screws driven straight into the wall studs for solid support. Depending on your cabinets and the installer, some upper cabinets use specialized hanging systems or brackets for extra reinforcement, ensuring they stay put no matter how full they get.

Storage cabinets can be custom or standard, depending on the purpose of the cabinet, size of your space, and available materials. If you’re looking to build something to a standard size, the usual range for cabinet dimensions are as follows:

  • Height: 12 inches–42 inches

  • Width: 12 inches–36 inches

  • Depth: 16 inches–24 inches

Taller cabinets typically have a height of 84 inches, 90 inches, and 96 inches.

Like nearly any other upgrade, new and improved kitchen cabinets can increase your property value and make your home more attractive to potential buyers. After all, the majority of home buyers consider the kitchen to be one of the most important rooms in the house. New melamine cabinets can be a big plus, particularly if you select a classic wood grain or another light neutral color that provides a blank slate for other design elements.

The cost to install a kitchen island can range from $900 to $6,500, with an average price of around $4,800 for most homeowners. The final cost depends on whether you choose a prefabricated or custom-built option. It is generally cheaper to buy a prefabricated island than to build one from scratch. A budget-friendly prefabricated cart can cost between $150 and $900, while a permanent prefabricated stationary island costs from $900 to $5,000. Custom-built kitchen islands average $4,800 but can cost $10,000 or more, depending on factors like materials, size, design complexity, and accessibility.

Building a bathroom cabinet can be cheaper than buying one, especially if you have woodworking skills and tools. The cost of materials can be less than that of a premade cabinet. However, buying a ready-made cabinet might be more convenient and cost-effective if you factor in your time and effort. Custom-built cabinets offer more flexibility in design and materials, while pre-made options provide ease and faster installation.
