"• The coupler on the trailer was bent. • The trailer itself was in good condition. • The owner called Alex Ortega for assistance. • Alex reviewed the situation and I purchased a new coupler from Harbor Freight. • Alex spent six hours welding the new coupler onto the trailer. • The job was done very well, and the owner was very pleased. • The owner recommends Alex Ortega for any welding jobs. • The owner uses the trailer to transport their trike and move items from stores. • The owner notes that paying for delivery from stores can add up, making a trailer a worthwhile investment."

Customers say: Quick response

"Irvine replaced and/or repaired about 100 feet of fence in our front and back yards as well as adding a latch to our front gate. His workmanship is outstanding. 90 feet of fence is attached to a slumpstone wall. He replaced all the posts as well as some decorative attachments and added a metal cap to the top of each post, as well as replacing numerous other regions . The welding was so precise that it is impossible to see where it was done. The entire fence and gate was sanded, primed, and painted with such perfection that it looks new. It should last for many years before anything needs to be done. Irvine is honest, extremely reliable, and his price was very fair. When we contacted him, he got back to us immediately. The entire project was started and completed on schedule. We highly recommend Irvine. ,"

"James was exceptionally professional and polite and did an outstanding job on the rails that he installed in my house with both the backyard and the front. He’s a perfectionist and I will hire him and re-hire him over and over and recommend him over and over. Very humble and a very soulful human being. I give him 10 stars not five. Thank you, James for the wonderful professional job. :)"

Welding questions, answered by experts

Sawing your hot tub into more manageable chunks so it can be lifted easily into a truck takes several hours. Generally, 2.5 hours for smaller hot tubs and around 4 hours for larger ones with the help of one to two people. If money isn't a concern and you want to skip the physical labor, you can hire a pro to get the job done.

Yes, but you’ll need reliable steel-cutting tools and safety gear to get started. Shipping containers are typically around ¾ inch thick, so it’s entirely possible to cut through them, but experience and the right equipment are very important. When possible, try to get a container as close to the size you want it as possible.

The average cost for a welding project is about $300, with typical costs ranging from $125 to $490. However, prices can be as low as $125 for very small jobs or exceed $1,200 for large or complex projects. Welders typically charge an hourly rate between $65 and $150, depending on their experience, and many charge a minimum fee to cover overhead and travel expenses. The total cost is influenced by several factors, including labor, the cost of materials like metal rods and shielding gas, the type of metal being welded, the project's size and complexity, and your geographic location. For a precise quote, it's best to ask a local welder for an estimate based on your specific project.

Choosing the right metal fabricator for your project begins with research. Find a reputable fabrication company by searching for reputable contractors in your area, and then reviewing photos of their previous work, customer reviews, and photos of the company’s workshop.

Once you’ve narrowed down the list, contact the companies to ask about the types of metal fabrication projects they specialize and inquire about guarantees and warranties on workmanship. You should also ensure the company uses high-quality material, and ask about the schedule and turnaround time for your proposed project.

This all depends on the tools you have on hand and whether you’re trying to cut a straight line or shapes.

The best tool to use for straight lines is either a circular saw or table saw. When cutting shapes, a jigsaw will be the easiest and most precise tool to use.
