"We had Zion, Carlos and the entire team of Brothers and Brothers just finish an entire house remodel of a tired 1955 house. My wife has a good eye and a strong spirit and we knew many of the things that we wanted. Our expertise stopped on our color scheme and layout of the house. That is where the team took our house to another level. Put the ceiling beams above the ceiling. remove the ceiling above the stairway and create 20 ft ceilings. The made our home the dream home we couldn't even imagine. Great Team, Incredible eye for detail. GREAT JOB...."

"We highly recommend Cal Green Remodeling and mainly Shay! We originally hired him for our kitchen and master bathroom project. Shay had awesome ideas and he did a stunning job, much more beyond our expectations! After the kitchen project was completed… we decided to have him continue and to also remodel our two bathrooms, some structural changes to the ceiling and installing new roof, raising the ceiling (in 12”) at the entry, completely modernizing our living room by opening walls, removing old flooring, removing old rock fireplace and replacing with modern, classic tile. Exquisite. We developed a trusting relationship with Shay and his team of workers and craftsmen. They helped us with design ideas and helped us stay within our budgets, and were honest when they felt they could not accommodate. They gained our trust and respect. We recommend them with confidence and look forward to using them in future projects!"

"Mud Worx was AMAZING! Our garage is not incredibly large, but we’re on a hillside and had some super specific requirements about level surfaces for a home gym. Natalia, Frank, and the team offered a fair price, did excellent work, and communicated like professionals throughout. We wouldn’t think twice about hiring them again whenever we have more concrete work!"

"The Cortez Brothers did an exceptional job. They viewed the property right away. Provided an estimate within adequate time. Went over my preferences. Rebuilt a fence and addition. Were very polite. Kept me in the loop with emails and phone calls. Their work turned out absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend them. I will be hiring them for painting various patio areas. With the many contractors I've worked with in the past I've felt very lucky to have found them."

House Leveling questions, answered by experts

There is no real alternative to underpinning, although mudjacking and polyjacking are other repair methods that can add support from underneath your foundation. Rather than placing supportive piers under your structure, these involve pumping a material under your slab to lift a sunken section back into its original position. Polyjacking, in particular, is sometimes a suitable solution for stabilization issues under slab foundations, but underpinning is often accepted as the best and most permanent solution.

A good slump height really depends on the project, but there is a use for nearly all slump levels. For example, low slumps are best in projects that require structure, such as curbs and roads. High slumps often require additional reinforcement, but they flow more freely into hard-to-reach spaces.

Common issues with concrete that may require professional repair or resurfacing include cracks, spalling, uneven surfaces, and weather damage.

Polyjacking and mudjacking can both be effective solutions for sinking concrete, but they have key differences. Polyjacking, which uses expanding polyurethane foam, is often considered a better option because the foam is significantly lighter than the cementitious material used for mudjacking. This reduced weight puts less pressure on the underlying soil and lowers the risk of future sinking. Polyjacking is suitable for any sinking concrete slab, while mudjacking is typically only recommended for non-structural concrete, such as sidewalks, patios, pool decks, and driveways. The primary drawback of polyjacking is its cost, which can be up to four times higher than mudjacking—as much as $25 per square foot compared to a maximum of about $6 per square foot for mudjacking.

Polyjacking can be a permanent solution to sunken concrete if you also address the underlying issue—like poor drainage—at the same time. The polyurethane material itself can last as long as or even outlast the concrete you’re lifting it with. Your sunken concrete issue will likely return if you don’t couple polyjacking with proper drainage to prevent future soil movement and sinking.
