"We chose the right professional for the task. Interviewed several licensed pest control operators on site. Pest Busters performed excellent assessment of our areas of concern, mapped out a plan and understood the level of service needed for our price points. Upon the agreed terms, their team set to work cleaning, setting traps and sealed possible entry openings. Two weeks after the initial work, they returned to evaluate whether their measures were effective."

"I like what they do.  They are a local company.  They do everything from termite inspection to pest control services and so on.  They are licensed, bonded, and insured too.  I guess it's a chain because there is a 1-800 number you can call so I guess they are in the area.  We are on a bi-monthly service so we pay $60.00 every other month.  They do an initial service.  If you want, they will spray indoors as well and include it in the price, but we decided not to.  We were having some problems with some bugs and it has pretty much eradicated the problem.  They come out every other month and spray the outside premises as well as take all the cobwebs on the outside down.  In California we do have black widows so we try to eradicate that.  Step Aside is very thorough and very good.  I have got them on a regular payment.  In fact, there are right now only about 12 homes in the section we live in and the guy is servicing I think 8 of the homes already.  There are going to be 80 homes eventually in the section we live in.  Right now we have only 12 and we know every single neighbor on the street."

Bird Control questions, answered by experts

Many different types of animals like to build nests in attics. The types may vary depending on your home’s condition and location and you can prevent them by sealing off entry points and eliminating food sources. The most common critters that like to build nests in your attic include:

  • Raccoons

  • Bats

  • Squirrels

  • Mice

  • Rats

Finding a dead bat in your home can be frightening, even during spooky season. The United States Department of Interior states that if you find a dead bat, take these steps:

  • Contact your state wildlife agency to report the finding

  • Photograph the bat safely to help the wildlife agency determine the species

  • Use disposable gloves to place the bat into a plastic bag, making sure to spray with disinfectant and close the bag securely

  • Thoroughly clean your hands and any clothing that came into contact with the bat

If you see one dead bat, you might have a large bat infestation that needs to be treated immediately. Call a local pest control company to properly inspect your home for other bats.

Set live traps or install a one-way door to evict squirrels, rodents, and other animals from your attic. Once they’re out, seal any entry points to prevent the animals from returning. If you’re dealing with an infestation, call a pro.

Trees that provide a habitat to bats and an abundance of bugs—their main food source—will attract bats to your yard. Because the North American landscape has changed so much in recent years, bats have a harder time finding trees with cavities to shelter in. If your yard has a dead or dying tree with a lot of sun exposure, bats will likely be drawn to it because trees with those features are less common.

The lifespan of a bird's nest depends on the species. The building process can take from two days to three weeks. Once built, the nesting period for baby birds can last from two to ten weeks before they leave the nest. While most young birds are ready in two to six weeks, some predatory species may need up to two and a half months. Some species nest four to five times per year, so a nest could remain in use for several months. For specific information about a particular nest's longevity, it is best to consult a wildlife professional.
