"We had a steep multi-curved driveway, Sacramento Paving gave a fair bid, stuck to it and did exactly what they said they would do. One year later we are still very happy with the results. Sacramento paving checks in with us to keep the driveway maintained. I would recommend them for your paving needs."

"I hired Isaac to redo a previous job by another company that was left unfinished and a big mess. He was very knowledgeable about what to do with my driveway and he and his employees were polite, professional and extremely hard working. He wanted to make sure everything was done right and I appreciated that. I felt his prices were very fair and I am so happy with my new driveway it is such a relief to finally have the driveway I wanted. I would recommend Issac to anyone that wants a dependable company that does excellent work."

"Very professional project proposal, design and references. Excellent value from a contractor that's well established in the local community. Project was completed and met all project milestones. On-site crew was very responsive to design changes, and applied best practices to improve on the prior concrete surface layout and design. I'm confident the resulting concrete driveway and walkways will serve us well for many years."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

The cost to pour a driveway apron depends on the material and size. Concrete costs $3 to $10 per square foot, asphalt ranges from $2 to $5, and pavers are $5 to $15 per square foot. Additional expenses, like excavation, base material, and labor, can increase the total cost. For example, a standard 12x15-foot concrete apron could cost between $540 and $1,800, depending on local rates and additional work required. Always consult a local driveway paving contractor to get an accurate estimate tailored to your project.

Building a road on a slope requires careful planning and will normally require a drainage system underneath to prevent flooding and damage to the road over time. Your professional may lengthen your road to create switchbacks if the slope directly to your home is too steep, as there are regulations for maximum road slope. The drainage system will help prevent runoff from the higher side of the slope from damaging the asphalt or concrete. Keep in mind that building a road on a slope isn’t a good DIY project, as a lot can go wrong.

Whether you should resurface or replace your asphalt driveway heavily depends on its condition. If the foundation is solid and the damage is minor, resurfacing is your best bet because it’s more affordable and faster than replacing the driveway. But if your driveway has foundational problems and/or severe damage, like large, deep cracks and potholes, then it makes more sense to replace it.

The answer to whether or not you need to get a permit before you start your driveway can vary widely based on local ordinances and the scope of your driveway ideas. In most urban and suburban areas, a permit is needed before building a new driveway to ensure that a homeowner is using safe materials and proper drainage practices while designing and constructing a new driveway. In some rural areas, a homeowner may not be required to apply for a permit. When building a new driveway on your own, always check with your local building department to see if you need to request a permit. When hiring a driveway contractor, verify that the right permits are being used before driveway construction begins.

Yes, you can retrofit an existing driveway, but this usually involves cutting grooves into the driveway, installing the heating elements, then sealing them. While this is much less expensive than typical heated driveway systems, the final appearance could be diminished. Speak with a driveway paving company to confirm which design method is best for you.
