"Deposit was put down in June, job did not get completed until Oct. 1st due to one "wrong door shipped" and had to be reordered. Also I was pushed back on the schedule. Most of the work was very good, but I paid $300 for the doors to be painted and they did a sub-par job with the painting. Will need to add an additional coat of paint to even out the finish. Also, the inability of the contractor to properly install the new door hardware was a problem. I believe this was due to no one wanting to take the time to read the directions on how this particular system needed to be installed. The one installer actually said "I don't look at directions" and other said "I don't have time to read directions". This is probably why they could not install the system and I had to rush to the store and purchase a completely different hardware system. Towards the end of the job they seemed to be rushing to get out of there."

Small jobs welcome

"He was very professional. He keep in contact with me when it was needed. He was always prompt with any information about the project when available. On the day he had my door he messaged me that he would be at my home at a certain time and was actually there way early. The job his company did I was done extremely well. It looks great. I have no complaints at all. Great workmanship."

"I called on Thursday and talked with the owner, Chris. He gave me an estimate over the phone for cleaning my gutters and windows based on the square footage of my house and said it would take about 3 hours. I happily made an appointment for Saturday morning at 8am. Chris and his crew arrived early. All were professional and courteous. After confirming the agreed upon services, they got started right away and spent the first couple of hours outside. Then they took their shoes off and came inside to clean the inside of the windows. When they were all done I was presented with an invoice for the agreed upon amount per our original phone call. My gutters were filled with a lot of gunk, apparently they may not have been cleaned for a number of years. Chris said it took 2 hours to clean them when normally it would take an hour. And I have a lot of windows. I was very pleased that the invoice agreed to the estimate I received on the phone. After they left, I found that one of the window screens wasn't seated correctly in the window, and my green waste bin had been moved and filled with the gutter junk, making it too heavy for me to move back. I called Chris and he had his crew come back in the afternoon to fix the screen and they took the green waste bin out to the street for me. Overall it was a great experience and I will use them again!"

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

If you’d rather repair your screen door mesh than replace it, you can patch it. Purchase a mesh patch for screen doors with small holes or tears, especially if the mesh is pretty new. Hardware stores and websites sell mesh patches that are easy to apply with an adhesive or a warm hair dryer. Keep in mind that repairs won’t look as aesthetically pleasing in most cases as a full replacement.

You can add any type of window to a brick house, so long as the window has proper support. Windows with wider openings and windows in brick walls will need a lintel to support the extra weight above the window frame. A lintel is a support beam that distributes the weight from above evenly around the window.

No, it’s not safe to leave a doggy door open. It might be more convenient, especially at night when you just want to lay in bed. However, when you leave it open, it increases the chance of other critters getting in without your knowledge. Also, it leaves your pup unsupervised for hours at a time.

Window screens can take anywhere between 10 minutes and an hour to replace, depending on the complexity of the replacement and the accessibility of the window. Replacing the screen inside an existing frame normally takes longer than replacing an entire screen, frame and all, if you purchase a prefabricated screen already mounted on the frame.

Pet-resistant, vinyl-coated polyester is one of the strongest window screen materials available, with some manufacturers touting a 7x increase in strength compared to standard fiberglass screens. Stainless steel security screens are also extremely strong, but they’re not suitable for coastal areas due to the risk of corrosion from salty sea air. If sea air isn’t a concern, stainless steel is extremely tough.
