"The Sears Home Improvement rep was prompt and professional. The materials proposed for our roof replacement (Shingles & peel and stick underlayment) were top notch. However, the price quote was 30% more than a galvalume metal roof we used which required complete removal of the OSB roof sheathing replaced by plywood. "I was not confident that my color selections would produce the desired outcome. I accessed a lot of websites looking at paint colors, as well as Houzz and Pinterest. I felt I had an unusual challenge with the interior design structure. I began searching for "paint palette consultants" and came across Homemade Design (HMD). 

I described my issue and HMD thought a phone consultation could be done within 30 minutes. I was willing to extend the time if required, but 30 minutes was just enough. To make the conversation as productive as possible, HMD suggested that I post paint colors, room photos, etc. on a website. I created a Pinterest board for each room, along with paint colors I selected. I also created a board with pictures of "the look" I was trying to get. I did invest a fair amount of time building the boards, but I knew it was necessary to maximize the consultation.

A conference call was scheduled with a choice of times/days. I rec'd instructions for calling in and talked to a designer for 30 minutes. Amanda had reviewed my site and was able to make some great suggestions on what I could do to minimize areas that I didn't like and draw attention to areas on which I wanted to draw focus. She tactfully advised me that while my color selections would work, a different route would be more likely to accomplish my objectives.

In my experience, consulting with an expert (whatever the field) is almost always worth every penny. I believe I received a great value and will definitely use HMD's services in the future."

"When you purchase this service you are asked to send pictures of the room,  and a layout drawing  with the dimensions in inches.  I sent pictures from every angle in the room.  My layout drawing was rough, but I made sure that the dimensions were correct.  It is important to show doors, and width from door to wall, windows and spaces between window and wall, etc.

Explain how you invision the room and what you would like to keep in the room. You should let her know what you like and dislike as far as fabrics, colors, and style of furniture.  I hate paisley, but failed to include this in the information that I sent to the designer.  So there was some paisley in my concept board. I told her what I liked, but failed to tell her what I disliked and would not want to see in the room.

Once I sent pictures, dimensions, and room layout I received 2  suggested layouts for the room from Jill.  I selected the layout that I preferred.  You they receive a concept board for the room with  her suggested furnishings and fabrics. To my surprise she also gives alternatives to what she suggests.  Her suggestions are in various price ranges so that you can choose within your budget.
