We were referred to the Company and after checking out the reviews here and elsewhere, we all met with Richard (an owner) and Jesse (designer) on site to discuss our desires and dreams. After meeting with us, they went back to the think tank and developed a overall design plan using software that allowed for an incredible visual complete with our dog and the two of us in the spa. Back at their office we later reviewed the design and the detailed cost proposal. We had a general idea of what some of the major additions would cost so our sticker shock was not life threatening. You usually get what you pay for and this company did not disappoint us.
Throughout the project I would meet with Leo each morning to make sure I knew what was going on and to express any concerns that I had. Leo was very polite and understanding of what I am sure are very common questions and concerns of homeowners. Like I explained, they do this all the time but for the homeowner this is a one time deal so you want to make sure that you address the issue before the execution because some things are irreversible. For those days the construction of enhancing the patio support beams and building the spa "patio" roof, I would also talk with Blake who was also informative and polite.
Besides these daily journeys into the world of construction, each week Richard, Bridget, Jesse and Eliel would meet with us at our house for a progress meeting and go over any concerns we had and equally important listen to the additional things that we would like to have done. Our questions and concerns were answered quickly in person, by phone, text or email.
There is quite a bit of natural stone in our oasis and it was amazing to watch the craftsman cut and chip and grout slabs of stone into such a masterpiece. Eliel and Leo were absolute gems to work throughout the construction process to give us the oasis we have today. Each night the crew would clean and put away all their tools and materials as orderly as possible.
Overall we are very pleased with the entire construction process and the visual outcome and would highly recommend this company to people who want a high quality job understanding that quality requires a fair price. None of us work for free and quality design, construction and installation is no different.
Thank you to California Smartscape and especially everyone who worked on our project!

Now the details. I identified Henry's Professional Painting on Angie's List as a highly rated painting contractor and gave them a call. Within a few hours I received a return call from Henry and we set up a date and time for him to take a look at the work that I needed. Henry arrived precisely on time and I was quickly impressed with his professional approach and demeanor. Following his visit to my house he mailed and emailed an estimate for the work. Along with Henry's offer I also got several other estimates which were comparable in price. But because of Henry's high rating and my impression of Henry I decided to ask him to do the work. The first order of business was to power wash the patio covers to remove the peeling paint. Henry sent a wonderful employee and person to do the work. The gentleman arrived at the planned time and began his work. He was expert at his job and very respectful of protecting the adjacent areas from the flying chips of paint. The painters arrived two days later in order to give the wood ample time to dry. Henry's team of himself and three painters again arrived at the exact time that Henry said they would. They then spent several hours preparing the areas to be painted and repaired. The inside repairs were done with impressive results. The work involved cleaning the damaged area, then taping the dry wall ceiling, applying joint compound, sanding, adding texture and then repainting. The trick in doing this was to match the color of the surrounding ceiling. Henry did this himself with excellent results. The finished job is outstanding! While this work was proceeding two of the other workers were preparing the patio covers for painting. All adjacent areas were protected with painters cloth and taping. They then went to work searching for and removing any remaining peeling paint, then applying a protective primer to the patio covers. They then spray and hand painted the patio covers with two coats of paint. The results were again superb. Following the painting, the workers cleaned the area a final time and replaced all of the furniture and plants in their original locations. Again, I can't say how impressed I was with Henry and his team, including Annie who expertly coordinated everything from their office. They also did not accept payment until I was completely satisfied with their work. Amazing professionals! He was punctual, professional and offered suggestions as I asked for them. His workman arrived on time, on the date I selected for the work. The painter was very courteous, worked diligently and neatly. As I reviewed his progress of the job, I noticed he had no paint spills or splatters anywhere, he was so neat. When he was finished, he gathered his used paint brushes and other equipment and said he would take them home for the cleanup. He finished ahead of the time schedule set for himself so he painted other areas like doors and trim in other areas of my home. The owner suggested this in order to give me the eight hours I had paid for. It was so nice to deal with such an honest businessman. For example, replace the wrought iron fencing around pool, landscaping, replace porch lights. We did have the wrought iron partially replaced and liked that worker, but MHP seemed a bit sly. We are not knowledgeable about such things so we just took him at his word. He also talked us into letting them paint our front porch, which is concrete. I regret that decision because the paint peeled and chipped fairly quickly. I did request references from MHP and actually went to see a few houses he had painted. I rang the doorbell of one in my neighborhood and asked if they were happy with the company. I should have been leery when the male homeowner vacillated, hesitated, and then finally said, "I guess so." But his house looked nice. I checked out their website where they provide photos of their various mulch products. I spoke with two different individuals, giving them a description of what I was looking for. I ended up deciding on "Premium Decorative Woodchip". I also paid for delivery. I was horrified when the mulch was delivered to discover that "premium" meant anything but. Terra Bella Nursery delivered 4 yards of shredded garbage. The so called mulch was filled with chunks of "pressure treated lumber" which is toxic, pieces of particle board, pieces of melamine covered furniture and painted wood. I called and spoke to a supervisor who said he would check on it and call me back. I never received a call back so I sent my boyfriend down to Terra Bella. The supervisor said they would never deliver that even though he was looking a a grocery sack full of the above mentioned filler that came out of my delivered pile. He said "premium wood chip" is chipped lumber. Clean unpainted untreated lumber not particle board and melamine would have been fine.Trying to be reasonable I agreed to buy a more expensive product understanding that mistakes can be made and understanding that I would paying the difference between the cost of the two materials and not paying another delivery charge as this was their mistake. He talked to his crew who disputed the evidence that was presented and the supervisor said he had to take their word. When invited to drive over and check for himself he declined. Long story short they did re-deliver the more expensive product which was acceptable but proceeded to charge me the full cost ($189.60) plus a new delivery charge and only credited me $51.70 of the initial $107.66. In addition they refused to pick up the "garbage" pile which resulted in more money to pay someone to remove it. No one wants mulch contaminated with pressure treated lumber, particle board glue and melamine to be around their children and pets. What a disappointment. Back to Walter Andersen for me. The two painters worked very fast. Every area was covered and the hanging lights and fan loosened, to paint under them. They did the primer, and had fans to dry it quickly. the paint job is beautiful. They also painted a door and door frame. My coupon from Angie's list was for 1 painter for 7 hours, or 2 for 3 1/2 hours. They seemed to hurry to complete the work within that time, even though we had said we would pay the full hourly rate if it went over. They had a bucket and water to rinse their brushes, and a large plastic bag for the plastic and paper after they removed it. They took all of the garbage with them. We

They are really good for fire prevention and brush clearing. Very clean company
Very nice and responsive. Good price left our yard spotless after all the trimming. Did a very nice job on Olive tree that hadn't been trimmed professionally in 20 years and 5 25 foot palms. Even the ugly bottle brush tree much nicer. We can't believe how much nicer our property looks.

The job was performed with attention to detail and very thorough. His method of using the roto brush appears far superior than carpet cleaners that use steam and vacuum equipment.
