"After a brief discussion on kitchen layout we decided on a design. I started on the demo. After that Larry made and installed beautiful maple cabinets with dark inlays. He also set us up with names for other contractors to finish out our dream kitchen."

"I am very pleased with the work done by JV Cabinets. They were timely and very responsive throughout the process. The refacing of the cabinets and updating the hinges have transformed the kitchen. The stone counter top is made of quality stone and was installed wonderfully. I will definitely have JV Cabinets do the kitchen in my other unit when the time comes."

Small jobs welcome

"Itâ s not very often that I am so satisfied with a service that I feel the need to express it back to the company and to the public. However, this is one of those times. I want to give a big shout-out to Cunningham Construction for the fine wallboard work they did behind the shower enclosure in the bathroom of my rental property. From the time I first called for the bid, up until the job was completed, Paul (the owner) kept in touch with me every step of the way. Even the bid itself included each step to be performed so that I understood the cost of the job, which itself seemed to be a very fair price. The work that I needed done was very small in comparison to the much larger jobs that I'm sure Cunningham Construction is known for, but they still made me feel as if I was a big customer. They were very punctual, safety cautious and reported back to me daily, almost as if I was their boss. And I should also mention, they kept the jobsite cleaned up at the end of day. So, would I hire them back in the future? In a heartbeat!"

"Eric and his team did a great job on our kitchen renovation. They were quick and very professional. As with any big job, there are always some unexpected errors. They handled them quickly, professionally and to my satisfaction the first time. I will be using EA Home Builders again for our bathroom renovation later this year."

Pre Made Cabinets questions, answered by experts

As a homeowner, there are a few things you can do to prepare for your cabinet installer. Once the cabinets are ready for your home, you can do the following:

  • Ensure pets are safely in another room, out of the way of open doors and large moving objects.

  • Clear countertops for removal.

  • Tidy the floor the installers will walk through and around.

  • Prepare to have the installers in your home for the entire day, for multiple days, until the project is done. Expect to have a noisy environment, especially if they will remove old, existing cabinets.

It is typically cheaper to buy stock or semi-custom cabinets than to build custom ones. The price difference is significant:

  • Custom Cabinets: Cost between $500 and $1,200 per linear foot. This price is affected by materials, size, design complexity, and door styles. For instance, a simple slab door's materials might cost $60-$70, while a decorative mullioned glass door could be $100-$200.

  • Semi-Custom Cabinets: Cost between $150 and $700 per linear foot.

  • Stock Cabinets: Cost between $100 and $400 per linear foot.

While buying pre-built cabinets is more cost-effective, building custom cabinets allows for full modification to fit unique spaces, such as rooms with high ceilings or unusual layouts, which stock options cannot accommodate.

Options include stock, semi-custom, and custom cabinets, each offering varying levels of personalization and cost.

There are some tips when hiring a cabinet installer that’ll help prepare you to create a new space. When installing new cabinets, keep the following in mind:

  • Hire the same cabinet installer professional to measure, design, and install the cabinets, as opposed to jumping between companies.

  • Discuss what types of cabinets the installer offers, including stock, semi-custom, and custom, to give yourself options.

  • Discuss financing options with your installer, as this project can be expensive depending on your chosen cabinets.

  • Discuss your cabinet installer’s prior experience, including asking for photos of previous projects.

Frameless cabinets fit the space-saving, minimalist attributes of European-style kitchens more than face frame models. That also makes them a good pick for apartments and dorms, as well as any more modern-style kitchen.
