"Best HVAC company I've had to deal with for a long time. very professional, courteous, goes beyond the job to get a repair or install done right and timely. they're also the best bargain and use superior equipment compared to other companies. from the moment I contacted them to the last details of the job they shine high above other irresponsible companies out there. I highly recommend them."

Air Duct Cleaning questions, answered by experts

An air duct is a metal tube that carries air from a central furnace or AC unit to different rooms in the home. A home’s ductwork is essential to a forced-air HVAC system. An air vent is the opening in a room where the heated or cooled air blows in. Air ducts and air vents work together with your HVAC unit to keep your home at a comfortable temperature year-round.

Yes, duct sealing is considered an essential task for most homes. Even small, seemingly minor leaks in your ductwork can lead to significant energy waste, reduced HVAC system efficiency, and decreased indoor comfort. For older homes, sealing is especially crucial as ducts are likely to have developed gaps and leaks over time, impacting both energy bills and air quality. However, even in newer homes, proactive duct sealing can prevent future issues and optimize your system's performance. A comprehensive approach that seals all leaks is key to maximizing energy efficiency and maintaining a comfortable home environment.

Ductwork should be thoroughly cleaned at least every three to five years. An air duct cleaning specialist will need to clean and inspect the ductwork for any leaks or other damage. You can also help keep the air ducts clean by changing out air filters every 30 to 90 days.

Yes, rust in ductwork is bad if it’s left untreated. Mild rust can be removed before it causes any significant damage. However, if you ignore rust, it can affect the structural integrity of the ductwork, and you’ll eventually need to replace it entirely. In addition, rust-causing moisture in ducts can also cause mold growth.

To determine if an HVAC or vent damper is open or closed, locate the handle or lever on the outside of the ductwork. Typically, the damper is open when the handle is in a horizontal position, parallel to the duct, and closed when it is in a vertical position, perpendicular to the duct. If you can see through the damper, it is open. You can also test for airflow by waiting for your furnace or air handler to turn on and feeling for air coming through the vent.
