Small jobs welcome

"I have used Anthony with A and K for several years to maintain and care for my residential landscaping. He does quality work, is consistent, honest and reliable. He has fixed my irrigation, maintains the monthly landscaping, handles seeding with seasonal grass to keep my yard looking fantastic year-round. Highly recommend his quality of services and level of integrity - which is hard to find nowadays."

"I had 5 large mulberry trees that over hung my dwelling that both my insurance company and fire department insisted be removed before I could qualify for a fire abatement letter and insurance coverage. All the trees were removed in a single days time with no damage to the dwellings roof or property and the debris was cleaned up and disposed of too ! Bill and his crew were great !"

"I was very happy with their work! My living room and dining room carpeting was badly soiled . They were the first to respond to my request for cleaning. They were fast, tidy and thorough. The price was affodable -- and I only wish I had contacted them sooner, when the carpet became soiled."

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Environmental considerations include native plant selection, wildlife habitation, erosion prevention measures, and managing water runoff patterns to protect the lakefront ecosystem.

In most cases, buying plants from a local greenhouse or nursery is well worth the investment, even though they tend to be a bit more expensive than those at a home improvement store. Employees at nurseries are usually well-versed in gardening and understand how the climate in your area affects different plants. They can help you make selections based on your skill level and time commitment to your landscaping, and they can provide detailed care instructions and advice to help keep your plants alive and diagnose and treat issues like pest infestation and illness.

If you want to take your tree-planting hobby beyond your outdoor space, here are a few great ways to do it:

  • Encourage your neighbors to participate in the Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree City USA program, which has a four-step framework that helps communities grow and maintain their own tree cover.

  • Support businesses that plant trees.

  • Lobby your local government to plant more trees around your community.

  • Donate to a tree-planting charity.

Many people have used old tires in gardens as raised beds, planters, tree rings, and DIY decor. However, these uses are not recommended due to the toxicity of many of the chemicals used to manufacture tires. These chemicals can leach into the soil and water as the tire breaks down, creating environmental pollution and health hazards for gardeners and their families.

In addition to aloe vera and lilac, other effective humidity-reducing plants include peace lilies, Boston ferns, English ivy, spider plants, and lucky bamboo. These plants thrive in humid environments and can naturally lower moisture levels. Place them in areas prone to dampness for the best results.
