Slender Paving

Having waited weeks for a local paving company to set a date for my driveway a representative from Slender paving knocked on my door and asked if I would be interested in having my driveway blacktopped so I asked for a quote. They came in several hundred dollars above what the local company had bid it for and I said that I would go with the other company. He asked what the bid was and when he was told agreed to do it for the same amount. Promising that they could do it the next day I agreed. A few specific requests, which were part of the bid from the other company (e.g. wings on the entrance), we agreed upon the price and work to be completed. As they were finishing the paving I noticed that there were no "wings" as were requested and physically had been drawn in the dirt with my foot. I was told it would be taken care of and as I had to leave to take care of some business in town I left assuming it would be done as requested - MISTAKE. When I came back the representative came to collect the check I went out and showed him what was not done as requested and he simply said "sorry" and took the check. To add insult to injury, prior to starting the job, he had asked me if I have a 1/2" deep socket they could use to replace all the planks on there trailer which was rotted (just another clue I ignored) and when I asked if I could have it back, he said "could we still use it for a little longer as we are still working on the trailer?" He must have read the look on my face and said "I will go get it for you." Over all the driveway is blacktopped but the wing was not completed and the sides are not done very evenly - having never blacktopped I assume this was normal - but having done concrete work for many years I doubt it to be so. Another concern was that they stated they were out of Meridian, Idaho but all my research on reviews showed them only out of Phoenix, Arizona, all though most of the reviews were fairly good. Lesson learned; go with your local provider and not some roving company. Kind of reminds me of the old barn painters growing up down south. Job looked great until the rain came.

They performed the task well and it was performed as projected. We have had the driveway coated many times and this appears to be the most thorough job. If it holds up for a couple of years, we will not hesitate to call on them again. They are knowledgeable and professional.

Work went smoothly. Several colors of chip rock were offered. The job took 2 days to complete.They had all of the crew & equipment needed to do the work.

It's great working with a contractor who is customer focused. They were prompt on returning any calls I made and on time for all meetings. The work they did was outstanding. Looks absolutely great. We will be having Slender Paving do additional work in the near future.

The estimate was given on the day I requested it. The work commenced the next day. This process took approximately five hours. The workers were very efficient and the results were better than I expected. Now, I no longer have to try to seal the cracks that really never disappeared with my attempts at recoating every couple of years.

I knew that I was probably going to have to pay additional costs because my driveway had developed more cracks than were covered by the Angie's List deal. I was surprised when it was only an additional $100. Four guys showed up to preform the work and it was quickly and correctly. They were careful not to get any of the sealer on my newly painted house, which was very much appreciated.

Watch out! This company may have been good in the past but has gone down in the last 6 months under new management. They promise to come back to take care of issues but they will not. Yes, their communications are great before you hire them but not afterwards. They price the jobs on what they think you will pay, and they will hound you and make all kinds of false promises to get the work. They will reduce their price from their initial quote but they are not worth it. Buyer Beware!

I did not go well. Provider had stated before we agreed to the work that the existing road was "chip seal" and he has going to "chip seal" in 4-5 spots where the road was deteriorating, 80% of it in a circular turn around area. He said it would take time driving over it for the gravel to bond. There was so little oil applied that all we have is pea gravel on top of the old road. Not enough oil was applied to bond the gravel together. All we see is gravel, including at the entrance from the public road, where we have loose gravel bouncing around, making it easy for a car to slide-it was safer there before the gravel was added.

All went as planned. Communication with company was good, quality was as expected. I'm pleased with the deal and service.

Excellent.  Previous source had disappeared on us and we needed work done fast.  Called couple of asphalt cos in Tucson - Slender called back personally and was interested in expanding his market to Green Valley. Scheduled the work for Friday and then called to see if he could do day earlier as another job rained out.  His crew was on job at 7am - 5 men; two trucks including towed lowboy for equipment and dump truck for gravel and tanker for asphalt.  Crew chief asked questions about borders of driveway; volunteered to scoop old gravel to a designated dump spot as I wanted to use it for other landscaping (otherwise they would have taken it away) and did so; Team worked 4 hrs without stop and did work with no shortcuts.  Very pleased.  Slender said he would honor two year guarantee and also do repairs after if needed but that driveway should last 20 years.
